To those of you who’ve been anxiously awaiting Warhawk, and kind enough to tolerate the delays, we’re happy to tell (and show) you what we promised in “Warhawk Answers”, in May.
Seen below are one of three 9.24 deck blocks and one each of LS1X and LS7X heads, in our building. They are undergoing PPAP (pre-production approval) evaluation to determine suitability for production and distribution.
I’m told by Warhawk 1 that the LS1X heads are in very good tolerance, require no foundry changes and only the most minor (and quick) machining adjustments. The first batch of 60 is being machined now.
The LS7X is being examined carefully for a machine problem which may stem from a needed pattern change. If it goes well, 30 days to production (after approval) is about right.
The blocks are very good too, (In fact, I spent most of the day taking photos of #2 for our catalogs and web sites) mostly requiring minor machining changes, but a fair amount of them. The block pictured is the goat for mock-up of the rotating assembly and that process is going forward as you read this. The heads will be flowed in a program while the corrections proceed. The numbers will be posted here when WorldTech is satisfied with them. My highest priority at the moment is to be involved with Warhawk 1 to create the spec and procedure sheets that will accompany each block and head set.
Now, at the end of July, we’re showing you this progress a little ahead of the block release time and right at the head release time we promised in May.
WorldTech has decided to release information at this time in the belief that the “faithful” deserve the truth-as soon as we could show the evidence. So here it is.
Now, we’re NOT saying these chunks will be in your hands tomorrow-it’s no BS, there’s plenty of work yet to be done-but here’s what we can tell you at this time.
The 15 deg. heads are not far off-a few weeks, at most we feel. Bear in mind that when we sign-off, production will ramp-up after a small initial run at the foundry level. Then too, the orders will be filled in chronological order of receipt.
The blocks are a little further out-I can’t say for sure when YET, but I’ll post here ASAP. Same thing-small initial batch but in September we’ll be throwin’ em out the door. Also remember, these are the 9.24’s-the tall decks will be PPAP’d as soon as we get one but the entire production process of the 9.24 must be approved before the 9.80 deck process can begin. So, a little good news and a little less-good news.
Bottom line-good news or not, we’re not scamming you guys and we’ll show you stuff as soon as we get it.

What I meant was that this wil be THE power package to have in the near and forseeable future. I am totally understanding of the issues involved in a venture such as this. Look how long it took for tall deck BBC's and SBC's to come to the market after the original motor was produced. For these to be here only 10 years after the first LS1 hit the market is outstanding.

and its nice to see you being honnest with people about whats going on! all the people that question you and the way you are doing things (telling people what the heel is going on!!!) just dont understand the complexity of what you are trying to do!

this is BIG and BIG things take time! especially if you want them right the first time!

... I see no cylinder cooling jackets... any casting (or cast fill removal) problems with the cooling jackets?

Of the three blocks we have, the first one had no jackets in it. That is the one we chose to use for our mock up. Here is a pic of one with jackets. And yes we did have water jacket issues with this block. As I'm sure you are aware the water jacket is the red headed step child no one thinks about, until its actually time to manufacture it. Were it not for the jacket we would have already been in production with this block. However its development took some time and that brings us up to today.

 

Damn, that block makes my shorts move. . .

I don't see the 6th head bolt through the intake runner on the block or the heads. Was this design thrown out, or will the 6-bolt heads and blocks be a later option?

 

that is very nice. i can't wait to see what the possibilities are with that. what are yall estimating to be the maximum displacement possible?

The 5th bolt is at 6 oclock of each cylinder, the 6th bolt is at 12 oclock of each cylinder the reason its hard to see is that it is down in the lifter pocket. Remember the 5th and 6th bolts are only on our 7X head. On the 7X head its also tough to see because there is a cast in counter bore that the nut drops into for the stud.

454 is for sure (4.25 stroke). A 4.5 inch stroke will get you to 481. We have the 4.5 inch crank in house and are working on the block mock up combinations now. We believe you will have to run our 9.8 inch deck block and possibly 1 external oil line because of the conrod bolt clearance.
