Default L92 crate + W2W = 414 CID powered Vega

Hot off the presses.

I handed off a new truck crate motor to W2W and received back a nice big bore stroker upgrade to my 1976 Vega. I’ll start posting progress pics at my personal site www.ls1vega.com

They got rid of all the cylinder deac stuff and the entire cam phaser assembly, lifters, oil pump and seems to have turned it into a good old big bore Gen III with the sweet L92 heads of course.

W2W custom cam (forgot specs but will get, don’t have build sheet yet)
Springs, pushrods and Ti retainers to match.
A full rotating assembly (Callies 4 inch, Callies rods, Mahle pistons)
Custom W2W oil pump
11:1 comp.

I have the stock truck intake of course but no other options in my possession.
Here are some pics of it and of the box of stock parts taken out(lots of them)

I want to thank everyone at W2W for the great work!
If W2W steps in they can tell you allot more about the build then I could at the moment.

Cool. Yeah the easy but more expensive part is done. Now to make it work.

I'm looking forward to the fun of it though.

Well its the same cost really for a stroker LS2 setup plus cam, springs retainers and push rods. Then of course the price of the crate motor.

Since I have a Vega I wasn't someone just waiting for a block which seems to not be happenning too fast. I have nothing and needed everything so I just started with the crate motor.

It wasn't cheap or anything but you get what you pay for so I figured I do it right once and just eat peanutbutter and jelly for a while.

I forget the cam specs but I'm attempting to get a build sheet from Billy. Them maybe some would like to guess at HP after I get some cam details.

I've taken a good look at them. Unlike the older one piece truck manifolds, they are made in three pieces then glued together! I wonder how much boost it would take to crack one open?

So, I saw you used a 4 inch stroke. Is there any way that a 4.1 inch stroke will fit for a total of 427ci? I know it's onlt 11ci, but if all it takes is a longer stroke you might as well.

Uhm.... A 4.125" bore with a 4.0" stroke = 427.6 cid .....to include a 70cc chamber and a 0.038" head gasket.

A 4.125" bore with a 4.10" stroke = 438.3 cid .....with the same attributes.

Or you could use a 4.075" bore with a 4.10" stroke. But bore vs. stroke ratios are better when going towards a larger bore vs. stroke.

I'm not really sure what had to be done if anything for a 4 inch stroke and what the max stroke that is possible. Actualy I don't know what its finish bore is yet. I will have all the info on the build around friday.

I just left it to the pros at W2W

Not sure about the fitment on a 4.1" crank. The crank is not the issue, the issue is rodd clearance. We are getting ready to start an LS7 with a 4.250" crank. It will require custom Ti rods though. So I am sure it could be done, but there might be added expense.
