He mentioned in his first post this is just a test block with no jackets.

You're seeing a 9.24 deck block, with no jackets, some grinding and other un-pretty blems-but it is dimensionally accurate and serves it's purpose.

If it is "turnkey" or ready to build maybe a clean up hone. It would make that block a viable and actually a very attractive option. Hell the short deck is only about a grand more than a LS7 or a sleeved LS2. And it's stronger. hmmmmmmm....... very interesting.

fire,
Right now we're saying 4.125" x 4.250" which is 454. We're going to try 4.500" stroke for 481. We know it fits, we'll look at rods and bolts.

Is 4.2" to 4.25 resonable? I'm kinda cooking something up in my head..... I am a little crazy though.

It's fine for you to get crazy but if we get crazy we get letters from lawyers...
We're being very conservative right now and don't have a lot of parts to R&D on. So we don't want to incite to riot.

I would never take a block out to max bore limit brand new, in case you hurt a piston one day and have to oversize it, it happens! 4.125 or 4.155 is all I'd go with on a build!
Then you have option for 4.130 or 4.160 and 4.165 overbores.

I like to start at 4.125, that leaves many years left in the block without major repairs

Yeah I'm readjusting my plan. I agree with you, problem was I never thought about the bore spacing.
