Default Cam shaft for ls7 headed 441

i am building a 441 with ls7 heads. this motor will see a little bit of nitrous 150 -200 most. i do not drive this car daily, and i can handle a large camshaft as a cruiser (i had a 252-262 in a 408 before this). the motor is being built with 12.1 compression, i was thinking of something in high 240/low 250 intake side, and i would imagine 260+ on the exhaust side around a 110 lsa, i am just having problems finding the proper lift i want because of the 1.8 ls7 rocker. of course i am keeping this hydraulic, and combine with the ti valves i am running should rev to 7k easy. any help would be appreciated.

Well, what do you want from the cam? Need to narrow down the possibilities a little bit.

more of a max effort kind of deal, i am thinking of going with 252-262 on 110lsa 644-655 int/ext, its a cammotion grind, thinking abut raising the compression to 12.5 gets my dynamic compression to 8.6 or so. this car will see lots of torco, or 100 octane, like i said i dont drive this car often

is that the lift using the 1.7 rockers ? if that is with 1.7 rockers it seems pretty agressive to be using with 1.8s.that would be like .682/.693

Be careful about going with too big of a cam, the stock rockers may not handle the needed spring pressure. If you are going with the Jesels, then go nuts. Greg Fell has busted 2 so far within ~2500 miles.

I agree, that cam is pretty big dude. For LS7 heads, you will want more split than that. I am running 18 degrees of split on mine. Katech's torquer cam has 24 degree's of split. That cam will struggle down low, and the driveability won't be that great.

that was with a 1.8 rocker, so lift really is .644-.655

i ran a larger cam in my 408 253-262, 113lsa, car drove fine, made 550rwhp-501 torque. it only had 11.8 compression. 252-262, i think should work fine, i am going to do some exhaust work. combine the 110 lsa, with the 12.5 compression puts my DCR around 8.7, which is not bad, so i dont see how you see it will struggle on the low end in a 441

What kind of spring pressures and lobes was he running?
Was it the bearings or the actual rocker?

I recommend more split on a cnc ported ls7 head...we run 12-16 degrees split on most due to the huge intake flow

Custom Crane 246/264 .590/.590 113 or 252/266 .590/.590 113 both (LSHS Lobes)
note: both cams shown with 1.7 rocker lift, 1.8s will make .624 lift.

Both recommendations are excellent. I like the second cam choice a little better since this is a 441. If I were to change anything, I might narrow the LSA to 112 knowing the larger displacement will make the LS7 heads a little more undervalved.
