Will the L92 head/L76 intake combo render other H/C combos obsolete?

the runners are longer on the L92/L76 from what i understand, what heads are on it now? if you upgrade heads the L92/L76 only works on L92 heads. i would stay with a BECK if it were me

right now they are some 4 y/o LS1 casting(853) heads from A.R.E. been working well so far but looking for something better.
i want to keep the beck, so that's what I'm trying to find out, if a simple port match from intake to L92 heads is all that's needed or if it would be better/necessary to cut off the flanges at the end of the runners to weld on ones that may match the heads. the runners on the intake are pretty much rectangular anyways.
