Default TSP 402 runs strong

I took my 402 back to the local 1/8 mile track tonight. Weighing in at 3503 lbs, she ran a best of 1.48 60ft, 6.900 @ 98.48mph naturally aspirated. I am tickled to death with these times and the track wasnt up to its best. It was chirping the tires every time launching. I think she will settle in in the mid 6.80s on motor at a great track. And then I will put the FAST 90/90 and largetube headers.

I know this kinda belongs in the drag racing section, but Im damn proud of my new motor

Good times. Should hopefully loosen up once you get a few more miles on her.

Best was 7.18 @ 96mph with the MS3 cam and big converter.

No dyno runs yet, just track times.

not too bad.. sounds like similar times to what my 402 went 2 weks ago (6.86@100.49 1/8th, 10.80@123.97 1/4, at 3580 lbs, 1.53 60 foot)

Sounds like it's got a 9 second pass in her with the bottle pressure up where it should be! Get her to a 1/4 mile and let her fly!!

Mine too.. 6.904@100.98 1/8th, 10.81@125.69 @ 3559 raceweight, 1.50 60.

The MPH will pick up once you switch to the FAST and the headers.. What intake and header are you running now?

I have the stock one that came on the car. The LS6. As far as headers, I have Hooker 1 3/4. I need some kooks 1 7/8 and a Fast 90/90. I wont get to get a 1/4 mile time till next spring due to the fact that the track in Memphis has shut down. But I apreciate all the coments and yeah, it looks like we all run pretty close. Good luck to you guys and if you figure any cheap tricks out, let me know.

I'm running the Eldebrock stepped header 1 3/4 to 1 7/8, 3 1/2" race merge collector. Much cheaper than the Kooks, and I bet not more than a few HP either way.

I can give you some tips... I noticed that you now have the NOS direct port.. That's the one that goes under each injector, right? They will NOT fit with the FAST intake. I know from experience.

When you get the FAST intake, you can drill & tap the intake while you have it off, add the burst panels, and put the new nozzles in. I have the part # for the nozzles that you will need for that kit, that will allow you to continue to use the same jets. I'll have to look for that, if you want it, or you can just call NOS & tell them that you want to make the switch, and get the #'s.

Port match the intake to the heads, and the TB while you have it off, & clean up the casting inside the intake. That will gain you some power. Or you can just purchase the intake from someone who can do all of this for you. I know that Futral will port match for the AFR, dont know about your heads. I'm sure they can also do the burst panels also. Or try Nitro Dave.

What are the specs on that cam?

Thanks for all the help and info. The cam is a Texas Giant from TSP. I think its 248/254 622/614 on a 113 lsa. And Zach, you guys at TSP are the best. Special thanks to all you guys down there and your former employee Jon R. Great job guys.

I would think it drives awsome, i had a t-rex in my 346ci and it was very streetable, i was suprised how good it was, and the t-rex is on a 110 lsa and the texas giant is on a 113 lsa, so i would think its very streetable, just my .02

Sorry man, didnt see your question. I had a MS3 in my 346 and to me the giant is better on the street than it was. I really think that TSP just got the tune alot better on this motor since they built it. The MS3 I had alot of surging at times, but this one idles perfect and to me the engine doesnt dance around as much. I love driving it on the streets. I would strongly recomend it.
