Here are the dyno graphs, as well as the flowbench measurements for the L92 (my apologies if the quality isn't that great - taken with digital camera and shrunk - I think it's legible - hope its okay to post)

L92 flow numbers and dyno for the stock LS2 w/ cam

And here is the L92

So the L92's were compared to STOCK LS6/2 castings, not CNC ported ones. I wonder how much the LS2 manifold hurt? A LS6 manifold with the TPIS 90mm conversion would be a better manifold than the LS2 for testing the LS2 heads. Nice to see a test though.

Word. The L92 is outstanding and clearly the winner, but put a 90mm setup on the LS2 heads and the results would be much different. The LS2 manifold is horrible.

not 42hp horrible though.. i would think if the l92's were milled to match the stock compression there wouldve been maybe 10 more hp.

Guys these heads are already good... if you want a good cheap set get someone who knows how to put a good valve job in them and go with that, amybe tuned up the exhaust port, but unless you want to do the intake port correctly the early "cheap" port jobs are going to be crap. It's easy to make these things into scrap by porting them the wrong way.

Of course not 42hp. The L92's are clearly the better head. But a 90mm setup makes a good bit more power over the shitty LS2 intake, which I think is what most guys run with a h/c LS2.

While putting together a 408 shortblock today, I put on an L92 head with LS7 valves in it. 1. It all fits. 2. There seems to be at least .080 clearance between the valves and cylinder walls. 3. LS7 valves are light as hell and only around 1k, I figure 35+ grams lighter than a S.S. hollow stem.

Thoughts anyone???

Those are some damn good results. Stupid ******* Books a million hasn't had the past two editions so I've missed out some. Hopefully they'll start stocking them again.

The LS7 valves are a liability that you are rolling the dice with.... ask a number of shops who work with them regularly. LG, HPE, Katech.... most will replace the valves in the heads with better aftermarket versions. They aren't cheap though at well over $100 a valve, works out to be $1000 or so a set.

Curious why you'd claim the Ti LS7 valves are a liability? Del West makes them, and they are certainly well known in the aftermarket world for Ti valves! Please explain.

I was wondering the same thing...... Mine have Del West logo on them. Del West has been making trick valves for race engines for years.

i just read that article and it is suprising that they only had a 4* spilt where as the net is saying a 10* spilt is in favor. but looking at the graph the cam they used made some good numbers on a 6.0. makes you wonder if a typical ls cam could still be used to make good power
