Good Stuff....glad to see some L92 dyno results starting to roll in. I'm sure alot more independent data is on the way. The chassis dyno numbers will be interesting and give even more insight to their effectiveness. I would mention that I do feel a large portion of the gains in this particular test were from replacing the LS2 intake which has been proven time and again to be very ineffective (I assume the baseline results were using an LS2 intake due to it being a crate engine).

As a point of interest, here are the results of a recent (similar) test conducted by PHR (Popular Hot Rodding). They also started with a brand new bone stock 6.0 ltr. LS2 crate engine and with the addition of a set of headers produced 450 ft/lbs of TQ and 472 HP on a SuperFlow 902 dyno (reads the same as a 901...a few new bells and whistles).

With stock compression (10.9 to one) and the addition of a similar cam to the test above (actually slightly smaller at 230/232), a set of out of the box AFR 205's and a FAST 90, the engine churned out an additional 55 ft/lbs of TQ and an additional 101 HP. Final numbers were 573 HP / 505 TQ

Here is the online version of the story (with alot more details) that hit the newstand a few months ago....Happy reading

Wow, comparing what a cam, AFR's and a FAST do to "out of the box" intake and heads from GM is crazy. You can get the cam, heads, intake, springs, etc for 2k, under what a set of AFR 205's go for.

But Tony you have to realize that the L92 heads on a stock LS2 shortblock puts compression at about .7 less. That has to account for something. Plus the Fast 90/90 setup is 1200 bucks, the AFR's are 2200 bucks, and the L-92 stuff is only what, 1500 bucks for heads w/ upgraded valvetrain, manifold, and injectors? Add a TB and you're still 1500 bucks ahead which you could put towards a mild valve job. The AFR's are great for their application and they have a lot of features not found in a stock casting, but they were trying to show the price to performance of a stock casting for very little cash. I'd say the L92 setup does more than enough for the price.

No arguments there Nate....

The L92 set-up represents alot of value. Just thought the info I shared was of interest seeing the combo's were so similar.

This is fun...fyi i believe the article said the baseline was with cnc ported ls2 heads. Just think what this means. The new baseline for 364 na engines with mid level cams, 11 to 1 comp, and good exhaust systems is going to be 500 rwhp and much more as people find the optimum valve timing. I am glad I haven't gone the FI route as I am getting old and I no longer need to go over 200. Chuck

Compression would be at 10.3:1 with the L92 head on a stock LS2 with a .055" gaskets. Although I wouldn't worry about running 11.5:1 SCR on that motor if P/V clearance allowed it.

I'm hoping that when some more people get on the L92 porting bandwagon that some competition can drive the price down even more! Although I have to admit it would be pretty low to get much lower than $1500 for assembled big block caliber heads.

I can see them coming down a few hundred. I expect Patriot to be not far behind.

Yeah I am holding out for the new LSX Bowtie block so I might as well wait and see what kinda deals I can pick up in the mean time. I'm gonna try to cut as many corners as I can and it's looking like saving $1000+ on heads with the L92's might be the ticket.

Well, we can imagine all we want. But how about throwing a pair on a 402 or 408 and dynoing them?!

BTW - have you flowed them yet?
