Default LS7 Dry Sump on LS2 block?

Looking to build a budget LS motor using a LS2 block (will get stroker crank, L92 heads, etc) and am interested in hearing the details necessary to convert over to the dry sump system from the new LS7 motors. From what I see, it looks as if I will need to use an LS7 crank with the longer snout to drive the two stage oil pump, that's fine. Will it fit into the LS2 block? I have not seen anything that suggests it won't, but I also haven't found anyone that has done this. In addition, all of the ancilliary components, such as the oil pan, pump, etc, any issues there that I need to be aware of? I'd guess there is a difference between the pulley/drive systems too due the longer crank?

Lastly, if anyone has these pieces taken off of a LS7, I am interested in purchasing, please pm me.

Thanks,
Mark

Not that I have done it, but theoretically you'll need:

LS7 crank
LS7 Oil pan
LS7 crank sprocket
LS7 front cover
LS7 or ATI damper
LS7 oil pump
UMI oil line adapter
fittings for the adapter and the tank
oil tank
custom scavenge lines

There is no difference in the front drive spacing

Hey, thanks guys. And yes, Louis, we did meet at the LBGP, good memory! I'll give you shout later this week. This is for our latest shop/track/street car build (pretty cool 70 Camaro), I'd prefer to just modify an LS7 with better pistons, etc, but doing the math suggests I can get there for a bit less. Dry sump is a requirement on this car.

Does anybody know of a way to do a 3.622 crank with a long enough snout to convert to this system? I can't go longer on the stroke so I can't run an LS7 crank, but I'd love to go to the LS7 dry sump.

Yes, I can have a crank made to our specs that will incorporate the LS7 snount. Give me a call if you are interested.

Wow, I didn't expect a reply that fast...AWESOME to know...soon as I save up some cash I'll give you a call (maybe this will motivate me to stop modding my truck and start working on my car again).

What company crank would it be?

I know Eagle is supposed to have LS7 style cranks soon..... if they're not already out.

Thats my fear...I want to go with a Callies...myself and a few friends have had nothing but trouble (bad dimensions, bad surface finishes on bearing surfaces) with Eagle.

And that is who will build it We have a few builds, well over 750 at the wheels using that crank, and one in the works right now.

I had alot of motors built with Eagle cranks both 3.622 and 4.0. Only problem I had was the pilot bearing bore was too big on a few. That info was fed back to Eagle. In the meantime... Eagle exchanged the cranks no questions asked. They are a great product but just like with anything else you get what you pay for...

Callies does build a superior product... no doubt... I have used them as well.

Anybody messed with Sonny Bryant billet products? I mean if your gonna blow $1500+ on a crank why not get a custom billet for another $1000+?
