Default 427cid all motor can produce?

I have been looking around for some horsepower numbers on a 427cid all motor engine. Some people say you can only get about 500-600 horsepower from it. What do you think you might be able to get from a 427cid all motor engine?

Your results are almost directly related to your budget.

Good luck,

93 octane? If you're running race fuel and a higher compression ratio, it will be significantly more.

that is something noone can acurately answer. too many variables. I would immagine if you went with an agressive heads and cam package with longtube headers and a 90 / 90 intake and a dead nuts custom tune you could most likely see more then 600 hp. its like richard said how much you wanna spend ?? ~Guy

I say reasonably a 427 NA can make at most 750rwhp using the very best avaliable parts with a price tag of $25k+

budget = HP Period, there's no other needed formula to answer this question.

Futral has built some solid roller race 427's that have made in excess of 800 flywheel HP, fwiw.

With say a 12K budget, you probably could hit 600 to 625 flywheel hp.

FWIW, my nitrous 402,made about 585 flywheel hp. I use flywheel #'s, only because the driveline variances will have a large effect to the rwhp #'s (stick car dyno's well, th400 car with a 6000 converter like what I'm running.... doesn't dyno too well LOL)

30k will get you around 850-900fwhp, but that doesnt include the other 70k worth of modifications you need to do to compliment a motor like that.

Dang it people; stop trying to answer him until he makes his question answerable!

Rear wheel HP or Flywheel HP?

What octane gas?

What kind of cam and powerband; race-only or streetable?

What budget or parts?

Etc, etc.

Right now, as phrased, the answer is: It depends... you need to be more specific!

To answer the question as phrased, of course you can make 800+ HP out of 427" N/A setup. The real question is do you have the cash to make it happen?

A lot more then 800 HP can be made, depending on the fuel you use. A little nitro goes a long way. I'm sure you meant some type of gas, but, you didn't specify, so...

Here is a link to some information I posted about my setup. We think 900+ is possible with 427 C.I. we are still fine tuning a few things.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-racing-tech/615674-project-hell-almost-complete-pics-inside-56k-see-ya-later.html

Here is also a link to the motor dyno. To me its an interesting video, but to many its long, boring, and could have been condensed. Needless to say here is you a 800+ hp N/A 427.

Directly related to budget and fuel type. We make over 700hp with no problem, but this is not a streetable combo really. 600-650hp and streetable is somewhat reasonable, maybe lower on pump gas.

We almost made 600 rwhp on my buddies. Right now we are working with LME on a bigger cam and better setup for the street.

Alan at Futral Motorsports is building me a 440ci with LS7 style ALL PRO W heads built by FMS/Meaux Racing.
I am looking for some awesome rwhp out of this street/strip build.
Depending out the final set-up (Compression, Fuel, Cam, Intake, ect) and how streetable we go, I guessing north of 650rwhp NA is realistic.

I figure an aggressive Hyd Roller NA on Pump Gas should be good for a rwhp of about 1.4 x ci. or 1.4 x 427 = 597.8

For a Solid Roller NA on Pump Gas, rwhp of about 1.5 x ci. or 1.5 x 427 = 640.5

I agree it really depends on the total set-up, but the quality of the heads is very important.
