Default All Bore LS1/LS2

The search is not working and im tired of searching... What good sites can I check out to get some pricing on an all bore shortblock. From what I see its around 387-388 ci... Is that sleeved or not? What is the max bore? 4.125?

Any help would be great! Thx!

In order to go "all bore", you will need a sleeved block. The max bore depends on the type of sleeving process your choose,(wet or dry) and which block you get sleeved. (LS1,2,etc...) Max bore using the Darton LS7 dry sleeves in a LS2 block is around 4.185", and a Darton MID wet sleeve in a LS1 block can go out to 4.200". The only source for this large of a bore is R.E.D who is a sponsor. The 4.185" would equate to a 399 and the 4.200 would be a 402. Only other option is to buy the LSX iron block, which can also hit 4.200" safely.

Are you building an "RPM" motor ?

Me too, not for just peak horsepower #'s, but for a combo that will have a wide powerband with the ability to scream when I want it to

Are you running in a class that limits displacement??

Short stroke does not necessarily determine a high revving engine. Valvetrain stability will determine the maximum rpms attainable from MOST LS type engines.

How many RPMS are you wanting to turn??

no matter what number you say, you can spin a stroker to it too.

the limiting factor is the valvetrain, not the shortblock... all you're doing is giving up power.

remember, the cam and such needed for actual power when you "scream" it at high RPMs will cost you power and efficentcy down low.

a cam set for a wider overall powerband can only rev out so far.... although increasing displacement (read: stroking it) further will allow you to widen that powerband more, without lowering the peak RPM the engine is capable of.
