LS7 wet sump conversion
Can the LS7 be converted from a dry sump system to a wet? I know of some people who want to put a LS7 is a full tube chassis corvette but space is an issue and the owner would rather not have to re-route the sump. Any information and insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!
I looked around on google and a few forums and saw that alot of people were talking about using LS2 stuff. I am an LT1 guy myself so i don't really know anything more than the basics when it comes to LSX motors. I know people have done this and i was hoping someone could give me info about the conversion.

There is a company that has a wet sump LS7 so I think it can be done. Just by using a LS2 oil pump, pump sprocket, pick up, 4" crank, timing cover and oil pan. Check www.fccustoms.com in GMHTP AUG 07 issue they had them listed as on of the 25 best Crate engines.

I still don't undestand the space issue. I have a 61 Vette with a tube frame and I mounted the 12 quart Petersen oil tank under the right hand front fender in front of the firewall no sweat. Be happy to send pix if needed.

Have a LME built wet sump LS7 in my 69 Camaro. For simplicity used a Eagle 4340 crank, 54x R wheel, HV Melling pump, p/u and a Canton racing oil pan. I wanted a more authentic look with simplicity so I decided a wet sump was better for my application. Space was also a factor for me. The Fluidyne 3 core radiator and overflow can are substanial, the overflow can and a Spal DC controller take up one side of the rad support with a 9" air filter in that corner. On the other side of the support is a Canton oil thermostat with -10 lines and fittings, and on the frame just below a remote oil filter. The battery was relocated to the trunk. There was NO WAY a remote oil tank-even 6qts. was going to work. The set-up looks awesome and still has modifed LS7 stats.
