I hear nothing but good things about Harlan Sharp. They do rebuild stock arms with captive bearings, about $250. Never heard of them break.

Harland was the first to manufacture roller rockers probably 40 years ago. Well respected everywhere. I find it interesting that someone would knock them when they don't even call them by their correct name. Seems this site has alot of knowledgable people, but some who couldn't find the water if they were standing in a boat.
Have run Harlands stuff in big and small chevys for decades with never a problem.

Ash is nice and springy. You can really get some nice loft! It also takes stain quite well, but it needs a fairly flexible urethane to protect it from the oil. Somewhere I have pics.

There are some good things about the OEM LS rockers, with the exception of the fairly cheesy fulcrums. Harland Sharp offers replacement needle bearings and fulcrums.

There are other methods of improving the basic OEM arm which is a nicely designed piece with very good stiffness and rotating moment of inertia. A non-roller tipped arm is inherently stiffer than a roller-tipped arm. If the replacement fulcrum is also stiffer than stock, you may end up with a modified stocker that is stiffer than any roller aftermarket arm. This is a very good thing with aggressive valve action.

I'm right with you on beefing up the oem rockers with Harland Sharp's replacement trunion bearings. They work extremely well for most street applications. The roller rocker systems have a place in the aftermarket, but they're not an absolute necessity as they were with the older Gen Chevys.

Ash is definitley nice, but cedar might freshen up the the under valve cover odor...........

I have never had any problem using polyurethane on any none oily material in fact it is quite flexible. Jesel does make a fine product.

Do forget to consider the new Scorpions. The quality is as good as all the well know aftermarket brands. They have a large trunion bearing. $379 @ SDPC in either 1.7 or 1.8.
