Default any thoughts on these cam specs??

Specs:T-ReX v.2 - 242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa


Specs.3500-6700 RPM Power Band. Violent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning, 4000+ converter on autos, 4.30's or greater depending on transmission.




any thoughts on these cam specs??

big, choppy, and not street friendly. Makes lots of power though.

when you say not street friendly - exactly HOW unfriendly is it? I've never had a street car with an aftermarket cam - so I don't know what to expect as for the unfriendly streetable car.

low rpm surging, not so great throttle response under 3000 rpms, will use more gas, shaky and lumpy idle, hard to tune, needs a very loose convertor or high gears.. it's a very big cam and comes with big cam issues and compromises.

what can be done to help smooth out the issues without removing the cam? I'm ok with the lumpy idle, and it's got a 4400+ stall in it, so will that help out on the low rpm surging? I"m not sure what helps what but thought that might change things

tuning can help with the surging, but it will not eliminate it on a cam that big.

like I said, it's a big big cam for a 346, about as big as you can realisticly go.. so the only real "fix" for a lot of it's drivability issues is just learning to live with it.

so - how well would that cam be in a 383,402,408 setup? Would that make it more streetable or just b/c the cam is so big there is nothing other than learning to deal with it. just curious
