RED Shortblock
Has anyone had a resleeved stroker shortblock built and assembled by Race Engine Developments.
I know people use his blocks ls2 wet and dry sleeved blocks, but what about a complete short block.
Like a 454 or 447 cubic inch.

I stopped in and seen Steve's operation, because like myself I was a little unsure. Looks top notch to me. My block started it's journey back today with 4.185 dry sleeves. He seems very knowledgeable.
He had one of the more expensive viper blocks there he had to resleeve into a MID. He also had a couple of Ferrari blocks sitting there waiting to be resleeved and done up into short blocks.
He does alot of research for Darton also.
.
I would have had him build the whole thing. But I've put together many small blocks so it's time to try an LS ? A more cost effective way is naturally the LSx block. But not many people want to stuff an additional 100 + lbs over the front tires, especially me.
Sorry I can't vouch for one of his short blocks, but thought I'd put in my .02 worth.
Good luck.

I have heard nothig but good things about RED and also know that ERIK KOENIG of HKE Racing recommends using RED's block for big cubed 470+ cid LS engines and knowing ERIK's stellar reputation this would give me a TON OF CONFIDENCE!

When I talked to him about that not long ago he told me he doesn't do builds, that he is far too busy with sleeving work to do anything else. Good luck.
There are some other builders who use RED blocks.

Like around christmas, but only if there were no blocks on the go.
What the hell I think I will give RED a try. If many other builders use his block , why not.

I've exchanged email with Stephan Demirjian, he definitely knows his stuff as mentioned above. He'll do a dry sleeve up to 4.190" on an LS2 for $1,550, and M.I.D. wet sleeve up to 4.200" for $1,400. If he sources the LS2 block, he'll stress relieve it and supply it for $1,100, cheap if you consider shipping blocks across the country. The biggest bore he recommends for a power adder is 4.150". Either type of sleeve supports a stroke to 4.250". Wet sleeves would require special coolant to prevent cavitation around the sleeves which start pitting the sleeves.

RED seems to have a very good rep. I am leaning towards a Darton 447 ls2 dry sleeve that way I have room left over for a rebuild.

The Darton LS2 dry sleeves have a lip on the top of the liner, that makes it impossible to drop a sleeve.
It is also a dry sleeve so you don`t have to worry about coolant.
