Default LSX main bolts or ARP.

I'm going to be assembling my LSX 427 tomorrow. Just wondering what I should use for my main bolts. I have the main bolts that came with the block and a set of used ARP main studs.

Don't use main studs without checking for main journal distortion.

+1. That is correct. You should have already checked the line bore of the mains with the fasteners that you will use for the build. I would use the stockers in this case, (if you are set on building it today). If you wanted to use aftermarket studs you should have mocked up, (torque the mains) everything then did the line bore check and set the bearing clearances.

Ditto on that. I would use the ARP's if possible, much better than the stockers. BTW, my machinest was able to use the 15mm nuts no problem on my LSX block, they were close but fit using a good socket. I now have 20 brand new 12mm nuts I don't need . They also come with the side main studs now too, which I didn't know (didn't use to) and have an extra set of those too...

I have used the larger nuts that take a 17mm socket also. You need a thin wall socket to tighten them, but the nuts do not touch each other or interfer with anything. You should check dimension of the main hole with the fastener you choose.
