Default how to build 6.2l help

ok looking for a 6.2L(377ci) boosted motor

ls3 block
callies crank (dragonslayer) 3.625
oliver rods 6.125
diamond pistons (custom unless they have new ones out for 2008)
225 afr heads

ok questions
first, what size gasket thickness do i need for boosted motor? (.035,.040,.045)

second, what are good bearings for crank and rods?

third, will my factory (ls1) rockers work? and my lifters?

fourth, what timing chain and timing cover do i need?

fifth, will my ls1 oiling system work (the pump but an ls6 ported) or will i need a new system/pump?

thanks Everyone that helps

Here you go...

Built by PowrMax

I went with the LS3 heads, and am considering having the stock rockers rebuilt by Harlan Sharp or including the LS7 1.8 rockers for just the exhaust. You'll need the LS2 style timing gear and covers (top, rear, front) and lifter guides.

i to am in the finishing stages of my build.you will need a .40 head gasket. i been told to use stock...we will see. your stock rockers will work but you will need offset intake rockers if using ls3 heads. as for pistions those will work depending on your boost. i am going for alot of power so i had mine custom made by diamond as well. i am also running dragon slayer and compstar rods. i got acl coated bearings

The LS3 heads have the offset rockers, and the rockers are a 1.7:1 ratio. They have bigger intake valves so the intake needs less lift and less duration in a cam, but the exhaust needs as much help as possible. The LS7 rockers are 1.8:1 which don't change duration but for the exhaust would increase lift from .558" to .590" (I'm considering the '08 Z06 cam) which helps a little. Richard @ WCCH flow tested the L92 heads and going from .55" to .60" lift on the exhaust adds 5cfm per port.

The factory rockers are a good strong design but the needle bearings have been known to fall out. Harland sharp rebuilds and strengthens the bearings for about $250.

The pistons were part of the shortblock package that PowrMax built so I don't know the line item price on that. The LS3 block, Callies crank and rods, Clevite bearings, Diamond pistons, oil pump, timing chain set, balancing and assembly was about $4K. Those guys carefully measured everything!

Your AFR heads well known and they're a great head. Whoever specs your cam should be able to confidently give good advice.

Here's the Harland Sharp site: http://www.harlandsharp.com/

I think since it's an ls1 head you would use the ls1 rocker setup.

The rocker arm ratios for a gen 3 are 1.7 so using a 1.6 would lower it.

I've though about using an ls3 for boost also. bored .060 over w/ some warhawk heads.

How come you don't get a 4.0 crank for the same price?

And 4" stroke pistons either need oil support rings or it pushes the rings up for less top ring down material.

Look at the part number '*' in the catalog pic above, the 4" stroke pistons need the oil support ring. I'm sure if it was sketchy Diamond wouldn't do it, but...
