Default Aluminum engine parts appearance....anodized?

Just curious as to why you do not see any anodized aluminum heads or blocks. Aluminum looks great when it's new, but how can you keep it looking like that? clearcoat? coatings etc? Or why could you not anodize the parts?

Is it possible just not common?

thanks in advance

The only data point I have is my oil catch can...the anodizing over the last 3 years has really faded, and I can only assume it is from the heat or something along those lines. I wouldn't think it would be durable to look good long enough to be worth it. Plus, you'd have to make sure you didn't get any in the combustion chambers if you did the heads...I don't think it would go over well in there.

what about clearcoating? What effects does it have on heat disipation and will it last?

we have done a bunch of polishing on all under hood aluminum & came back with a clearcoat powder coat. Come back & hit it with some 2000 grit reapply second coat & looks like glass! the clear coat powder coat never dulls or yellows.
