Default Oil cooler setups get in here!

ok guys I want to know what you are using and how it is working for you guys. I'm trying to figure out if my setup is well setup right. I'm running the Lingenfelter Oil cooler plate with -10 lines to and from the cooler to the motor.
here is pics of my setup in my LS1 RX7 (Factory RX7 oil cooler)

Right now I'm runnning a stock 01 LS1 pump that has been ported, I have not shimed the spring for more pressure yet. I'm trying to figure out if I need to shim the pump, but I dont trust the gauge totaly in the RX7. It gets its reading from the stock LS1 oil pressure sender location, with a new mazda sender.

This is what my gauge looks like all the time no mater what RPM the motor is at.

I want to know if anyone has needed to shim the pump when running a cooler I have done some homework and from what I can tell there is no difference from the LS1 pump and the truck pumps that came with coolers.

Which model oilpan are you running ?

Think I read on the Lingerfelter site that the oil cooler block will not work with GTO. Could possibly be because they run a set of oil filter relocation pipes inside the oil pan. Fitting in the usual way might actually be by-passing the oil filter in that case.

Not sure about the FD oil gauges/senders, but many cars including miatas '96-on have "dummy" gauges that *look* like proper gauges but are really only on/off pressure switches. You might check to see if the mazda pressure gauge in your car is even a progressive gauge at all.

I've got a cooler on my firechicken and I'm running a ported LS6 pump from thunder racing with -10 lines also and I have no pressure issues at all, at least according to the stock sender and gauge. I see pressures of 40psi at hot idle and 60+ psi when rpms come up. Is there anyway to temporarily hook up a mechanical guage to verify what the mazda unit is reading? I'm sure access is probably limited....

That pro-lite 350 hose is nice stuff, much easier to work with than traditional steel braid and lighter also.

The gauge should move up with RPM. Get a good gauge first.
