402 power/ET times?
Hi guys I have a shortblock being assembled now that's a 402 aluminum block. I'm trying to make the most possible before spray. I was going to go with 225cc dart heads, and I'm not sure about the cam yet. I'm sure I'll get a custom grind and plan on spinning to 7k. The power will be put down through a TH400+4k converter and 9". I'm not concerned about gas mileage and uber great streetability here. I don't want to cut any corners to sacrifice performance. I might even go solid roller, but with a hydraulic setup..Is 5xxrwhp possible on motor through my auto? I also will have a pretty light car. I'm new to the LS world but very excited about this. What kind of times could I see on motor? Also, I'll have a 200 shot on tap. Again, what kinds of numbers?
Thanks for any help or opinions on parts..

Hmmmm, same idea here...
short of 500rwhp, but a M6, 3.73s only and not that light, probably will be back at stock weight after the 6pt rollcage... Z28, hardtop with skinnys and slicks on bogarts
can a car like that hit 10s?
I hit 7.84 @ 89.25 in the 1/8 with boltons only.... (364rwhp)

also you have 4.56s.... But if you think you can run 10.30s, then Im confident I may break in the 10s with 3.73s...
also I have a light K member, but the rollcage is gonna add 80+lbs...

I just bought a car that has a 408 and th400 with trans brake in it. Only a Vig 3300 stall. But he had taken it to the track once before I got it, he ran a 11.15 at 119.8.. He didn't prestall the car or anything, said he did it from idle.. (Stock rear)..
I am thinking once my 9" goes in, I should be able to be 10.8-10.9's easy...
He only put down 469hp and 475tq. But when there was a M6 behind it, it put down almost 550hp..

How the Fack can an auto trans eat up 70rwhp from a manual?
WOW!
Also what do you mena best heads? Im going for a very streetable mannered car, so Im using the 5.3 heads. Youd probabaly not want thses heads, theyre not the best heads for most power... there is a lot of Dart, Patriot and AFR heads out there made for big cubes...

I know of a couple 3500lbs+ N20 408's running high 10's NA through a TH350. One of which is using out of the box Dart 225's. Neither one has impressive dyno numbers but they sure run the numbers at the track. 500rwhp is doable ... all depends on your track goals and whether it's necessary to $pend that kinda' $$ for an "X" dyno number.

Dyno numbers don't mean anything.. It could have been a bad day to dyno too, who knows...
My cam only car with full bolt-ons dyno'd 367hp and 325tq. But my times at the track say different.

On my 408 I have Larry Meaux hand ported heads.
The L92 heads flow great, but you will need to find a cam that will work with them. If I am not mistaken they are a bit touchy when it comes to the higher end cams. Look at some of the LS6 stg 3 heads, there price is nice, and they are a pretty hard head to beat.

I'll look into them, thanks. Any of you guys switching to carbs on these 400+ ci LS builds?

This guy did a nice very mild build that made 510/470 with a small cam.

If i were you i would look into a TFS 235cc head. I've had good luck with my motor, which is pretty similar to what ur talking about building. and its gone 10.40's at almost 130mph with a super tight N20 verter.
