Default LQ9 + L92 heads?

heres the deal,
I have an LQ9 engine with a custom grind 226/232 @.050, 112+4 LSA, .605/.610 lift, also has Long tube headers and true duals, cold air intake, and still running a truck manifold.

What kind of gains could i expect to see if i slapped a set of L92 heads + L76 intake on top of this engine?
I've seen the magazine articles testing simlar combos, but looking for some other advice/ experience...

This is in a truck, so low end torque is a concern.
How much low end will the L92's sacrifice, and how much would it pick up on the top end?
Would L92 heads be worth it or would i be better off just sticking with the 317 heads, and maybe picking up an ls6 manifold?

thanks in advance.

Don't buy into the internet BS that the L92 heads will cost you low and mid.

Small cam...

Good to see someone besides me building a 6.0 l92 motor. I have called some of the sponsors about a cam for my build and they all laughed at me. I'm glad to see this. I'll be posting my buildup in the next few days about my 6.0/l92 truck. S10 that is. Maybe we'll both prove something....

We went 5.82@119 with a GT47-88 turbo at 10psi with a stock LQ4 bottom end, 236/240 .600 lift camshaft and outta the box L92s at 3200lbs in a "s10". So I'd say theres some laughing going on.

Do you have any vids of that setup? What does the rest of the setup specs look like?

Im also finnising up my 370 build in an s-10 . Iron block, stock crank, bme alum. rods, weisco pistons. Up top is a set of l92s hand ported and the gmpp carb intake,750 HP and i have not decided on my cam specs yet. This is an n2o motor that will see about 300-400 . In a 3250# truck with a glide and the right set up....I dare some poor unknowing SOB to laugh Will get there feelings hurt by a lil motor..
BTW. be very carefull who you take cam advice from on these heads.. Some people are stupid!!!

I'm getting VERY mixed opinions and specs/combo ideas from various builders and web sites, I have NO idea which direction to go at this point.

What kind of gains are to be had by just bolting on a set of L92's - onto that LQ9 with above mentioned comp cam 226/232 .604"/.609" 112+4...?

Looks like its just going to get an ls6 manifold for now and gather more info on the l92 top end..
i would like to throw in a set of katech or arp rod bolts and maybe a 150 shot as well, just for good measure.

LSXS10, I know what you mean by advice on cams for this setup. Got one sponsor saying .610 lift is all you can do w/ this settup stock. Got another one trying to sell me a .650 lift cam. I'm running Diamond flattops flycut for L92s and from what diamond says I can clear .750.

If you want a set of heads for an all out setup I've got a set for you. All Pro cathedral ports. Setup for offset rockers ( hi rpm stability), comes with titanium intake and inconel exhaust valves. $2700 shipped to your door. Flow 355 on the intake and 260 on the exhaust

Yep, you talk to three seperate cam companies and they all three tell you something wayyyy different from the last one ... I told all three the exact specs on my motor "i just used TSPs l92 flow #s because i havent bought my heads yet " think ill just hand port my own and have them flowed..I was told any where from a 224/228 to a 240/248 for the EXACT same specs on a combo. Im just going to port my own heads and spec my own cam, run to Memphis and have comp cut it. Im thinking a 234/248 on a 109-112 lobe sep. for a 370 inch heavy n2o motor ,from what ive seen these heads dont need a ton of overlap but they do need a wide split to cover the weak "compared to the intake" exh. port . My combo may run like crap but all i can do is try something..Im more than willing to listen to anyones op. on the cam...The pros may know but there not tellin....

Thats what I did, I started my project back in October so there was even less info than there is now. I used 2 diferent dyno simulator software programs they were within 10-15 hp of each other (515-530 at the crank). I did my own port clean up, smoothed the high spots, port matched etc. I have not had it to the track or dyno yet but seat of the pats I can say that it has some serious torque and pulls great (I will need dr's now, good problem to have). I have shifted it at about 6600-6700 rpms and it liked it. I have done a lot of data logging and things are looking good. The cam specs are in my sig, I came up with these and had Comp grind it for me. The split is large but the exhaust needs it but the overalap is only 2 degrees. Idles about 800. may be able to go lower.

SIlverado SS L92 LT COrsa Sport

the way I was looking at it was pick a cam and run it and see how you like it, then if you need switch it up. It was like pulling teeth to get any consistency in the cams people were telling me to run.

To fit they aren't. The valves are going to rather shrouded though. They are a proven gain.
