TFS 245's....i had considered the LS7 topend, but you're limited to ported stock intake or sheetmetal. LS1/2/6 style heads have more options, but don't flow like the LS7 heads do.

We've tested PRC LS7 heads to 750flywheel horsepower on 454 TSP Shortblocks. I don't think there's any comparison to a cathedral port head.

I think it really depends on what your are looking to accomplish with your motor.... I have silly little stage III TEA 317 heads, that were once considered pretty nice. I don't konw how much it would cost to replicate my setup but it makes great power for a street setup. But I know my engine is running out of air and alot is left on the table. The TFS seem to make great power and if I were to go with something different I think thats what I'd run.
But it really depends on your budget and your goals and what you think you can grow into if needed. JMHO.

A lot of it depends also on how much cam you want to run. If you don't want to run a huge cam to make the same power, go with the square port stuff, they take much less intake duration then your typical cathedral port head does, thus less overlap, and better driveability etc... But of course that also depends on good your tuner is.

Because I will pick a car with higher average hp and tq, with more power under the curve over a peak hp numbers ANY day of the week.
The highest average HP and TQ wins races, NOT peak hp.
And for the record, its not "Easier" with LS7 heads. Its just a different methodology.

But, in racing situations, higher hp/trq number are the ones that will win, because you spend more time in the upper rpms, where you're making the larger numbers.
Plus, the LS7 heads and intake manifold combo have more potential to make power than a cathedral port setup.

We have had great luck with the Trickflow heads on the bigger cubic inch motors. If you want to spend a good amount more money and go with a LS7 Style setup the WCCH/All Pro LSW heads are one of the best heads you can buy!
