Default L92 Cam help

I have a 2007 Denali with the L92 and I am looking for a little more out of the motor (nothing too crazy, this is an SUV). Which cam seems to be the best for this motor (stock heads, I have LTs with HF cats and that go to a y pipe out (zoomers) and a CAI already), I don't care about keeping VVT, just looking for something to give it a bit more pep.

That happens a lot on hear people won't answer questions or you get do a search. You may want to look at Mast Motorsports. They have cams for the VVT and they make some really nice power!

Read up on the cams and give them a call. Good luck!

Yeah, I looked at some of the info in searches but couldn't find a setup similar to mine (not thinking about messing with the heads, might or might not keep VVT, etc...)

Do you happen to know if it's worth changing out the intake to say, an LS3 intake or the like? Thanks for replying btw man.

YOU NEED TO CONTACT SHAWN LIDE AT MAST.... they will get more torque on a broader range with the vvt set-up. We are currently working with them on a 408 vvt motor combo for one of our emmployees vehicles. I just spent the day over there about 3 weeks ago & it is unbelievable facility. These guys are way ahead of the curve

Yeah keeping the VVT is pretty cool. Any idea what number they are getting out of them on a pretty stock L92 (mods in sig)? Checked their website out, the cams available seem pretty mild (what I am looking for), gonna call and check their prices. Also looking to swap out the intake, but not sure about that yet. Seems the stock L92 intake is just fine.

Would you guys recommend beefing up the springs? Any other mods for these motors that are worth while?

Yeah, the price is awesome too. Choices choices, lol. It was easy for my SRT8, only a few to really pick from. L92, completely different story

Really hoping this wakes the Denali up, it's pretty nice for an SUV but could always use more

I would definitely upgrade the springs when upgrading the cam. If the heads were comming off I would change the valves out but I would say ask the fellas at Mast.

Cool.

Why the valves though? They should still be in spec, only have 12k on the motor.

Anyhow, gonna bit the bullet and get the new cam. Might change out the intake, dunno. Next step is the transmission, hope the 6L80E is strong enough especially with this heavy *** SUV.

Well got a hold of Mast, was told the kit comes with the springs and the power numbers were very attractive. Said I didn't have to change the valves out if I didn't want to, so anyhow it comes with the cam and springs (good for revving it out to 7k, tho I'm not gonna be doing that). Can't wait to get the thing ordered and get it here, keeps VVT and all that jazz .

Thanks for the recommendations guys!

Here is a excellent cam for a big heavy truck. I have this in a SS Trailblazer. It comes with just a center bolt so it will work in yours. I have a 06 with L92 heads & this cam (machine shop converted it to 3 bolt for mine. It is one strong running cam for sure it also sounds great at idle. I completely tuned mine with a Diablo & its got a perfect tune using custom tune perimeters. I am using Manley springs/retainers.

It was perfect for my SS Trailblazer it has lots of low end & mid plus pulls hard on the top end. This with headers & bolt-ons plus MT DR's made my motor feel like 150 shot of nitrous. I will be running low 12's all motor & 11.10's or better with 2 stage nitrous. I now have a forged bottom end with Diamond pistons with L92 valve reliefs so I can run bigger shots of nitrous now. This cam with headers & bolt-ons is the perfect truck cam & the price is right. LOL
