Default New cam spec for my 416

Hi Guys, i have a new cam on the way, spec is 242/254 .621/.595 114 +3, its on XFi inlet/Xe Exhaust, anyone else running something similar? My car weighs 2600lbs and is a M5. I use her for some daily driving but mostly leisure, trackday, and flat out speed/acceleration trials.

I ran a 248/254 112+0 in a 408 AFR/TEA port. Made 540 rwhp through a 4.10 in a c5. Pulled clean to 7k.

I am limited on exhaust design, thanks to a lack of space, i am running 1 3/4" primaries, but they have to fit where i can get them through. So theoretically its to crotch the exhaust up. They are an average of 25" long i guess. Would like to do 17/8ths but it just would not fit.

2c5s, did it tune low down ok?

Cheers.

Idle was 950rpm with no bucking and it pulled clean out of the hole.

Understood. I currently have a 402 with a 244/252 in it and the car is absolutely dead below 3500rpms (granted the heads are 250cc). I would be conerned that with a your large spread you might end up with a similar feeling car. I am no cam shaft expert though, so please take what I say with a grain of salt. There are many others here that can provide you with concrete advice. Try getting a hold of Non Sponsor or Patrick G.

Good luck with your project!

Thanks, hopefully it wont be flat as a pancake, but i could do with shifting some of it up top as it is brutal off the bottom, so much so it is tough to launch.
Its been ground and paid for, so its going in anyway! I have ordered a two piece timing cover so if its rubbish i can tear it down in a quarter of the time!

With the 2600 lb weight, you can get away with ALOT less bottom end power and still probably be fine, alot moreso then people with a 3000 to 3500 lb car.

Ahh, good point. Forgot about that.

Hopefully the new cam will work exactly as you hope, so you dont have to tear into again!

Almost the same as my 244/252 0.630" 112 cam in my L92 setup 416. I can pull a trialer in my Vette at 1200rpms with no bucking and accelerate in 6th from 1200+ with no issues. I wish I went a little smaller though to help with the peak power as my 416 peaks at 6krpms.

I'm hindered by the L76 intake/L92 heads and can't flow anymore. Otherwise If I would have stayed with the cathedral port heads it would be game on.

Got my cam this week, card says 244/257 .622/.596 114 lsa +3, along with some 42lb injectors, Edelbrock timing cover incase the cam feels crap i can take it out without virtually pulling the motor, plus a ported FAST intake. One hopes ones power is increased, otherwise one wil not be amused!!

Cam sounds awfully familiar LOL its acually the same one I run except with 1.8 rockers making me have higher lift and mine has a tighter lobe sep 244/257 657/630 110+4 patrick G speced mine out for me. Mine has the XFI lobe intake and XE lobe exhaust. Thing idles very well and pulls like a freight train all the way too 7k. I have over 450 rwtq from 3100 all the way too 6650 then it drops a little but still over 400 too 7k. But I also have 4.56 rear gears so my bottom end never feels soggy. Ok I take that back I tested a few other cams and some of them, pretty close to the same size, felt like *** below 3800 and pulled about the same up top. Patrick Gs cam pulls like a raped ape on viagra from the get go. I have big probs hooking 1st, 2nd, and half of third even at the track on 335/30/18 hoosier R drag radials. 28in tall hoosier quick time slicks has helped that prob. Personally I love it but I would love to here how it works in your car and with a slightly wider lobe sep. PM me if you have any ?s. Also to get the most out of it I would go with a SD tune I have tried MAF twice and didnt feel as good. Also to add icing to the cake I still average 26 MPG on freeway an 19 round town

Bandit, lovin the sound of that cam of yours! I will get round to slotting it in, in the next few weeks. I'll post the numbers when its up and running, i do not have a MAF as mine runs a stand alone after market ECU. In fact when i took my intake filter and pipes off it made NO difference! Hope mine works as well as yours.
