Default Oil Burning 427?

I have a 427 that is using a quart of oil in under 500 miles. then engine has just under 1900 miles on it. This seems like an awful lot to me.

The shortblock and heads were purchased from forum vendors and everything was professionally assembled by a local shop. I am still running the Valvoline NSL oil that the vendor required during the first 5000 miles. The oil has been changed 3 times since the engine was installed.

Thoughts?

What are you running for PCV? That was one of my biggest problems. Had to run a vacuum pump to eliminate oil burning.

You could be having some blow by or as the previous post stated a PVC issue. Have you ran the issue by your builder yet?

I am running 2 catch cans. One with a breather going to the valve cover and the other going from the valley pan to the intake through a fixed orifice PCV.

It'd be nice if it could be fixed with a different PCV setup. I have not called the builder. It is out of warranty.

Having the same prob mine has about 7 to 8k on it runs strong as hell, I have added the rev xtreme catch can and it goes to the LS7 valley to catch can to intake. I have a breather on the rear of the drivers side valve cover and one on the oil fill tube as well. I dont seem to be getting alot of oil pass the catch can but still getting some. Car has great compression numbers

cyl 1 184 cyl 2 186
cyl 3 190 cyl 4 186
cyl 5 192 cyl 6 188
cyl 7 185 cyl 8 187

adding oil didnt seem to make any noticable change I have seen a bit of oil on the threads of my plugs but dont seem to know where its coming from. I have taken off the intake after installing the catch can and theres still quit a bit of oil around the intake ports when I remove the intake and this is the day after I have removed it to clean it. I took it off the next day to haved a looks see and sure enough there was oil round the ports again and I hadnt hardly driven it. Heads are LS7 an I installed the valve stem seals I think I did it right but maybe not I used a socket and made sure they sat fluch on the guide they have 3k on em. I love the way my car is running just dont like the embaressment of leaving a smoke trail when under WOT, that seems to be the only time it does it doesnt seem to burn oil at all any other times. Thoughts on this would be great not trying to hyjack just having similar probs.

I run breathers in both valve cover and capped all vacuum sources-- no problems at all.
