guessing by the cam choice i would think its a daily driver...its a great little cam and loves compression. some afr 205's with about 11.3:1 compression and you will be very happy. and for a bit more money the tfs 215's will give you a little more up top hp. and the man above has great deals on the afr's (99blancoss)

AFRs are worth more than 35... closer to 55 or 60 over LS1 heads (if milled down for more compression). TFS heads are more like 65.
A stock ported casting can flow very similar to the aftermarket castings, but they dont make the same power. This is because of the limitations of the stock head and the fact that GM already has a port in the head. It's possible to change the port shape and flow characteristics, but you're working within the confines of the stock designed port, so there is only so much you can do to try and incorporate that design into the head. The alternative is to simply port around it to "hog-out" the head, design the port you want, and really open it up for serious flow which usually comes at the cost of quality flow.
Therfore, the benefit of the aftermarket casting is better velocity for part throttle driving and more power from quality flow at lower lifts .200-.500" (where the camshaft spends most of its time).
With that said, you're well past $2k for any aftermarket head. So if budget is a concern and a solid 40-45rwhp gain is wanted, a set of PRCs would work nicely as the port isn't 237cc like most other aftermarket castings. The Stage 2.5 5.3s are only 220cc and make good power for a set of $1300 heads. They also add compression because they are 5.3L heads. The PRC Stage 1 LS6s are also good and are similar in price and flow, but don't raise compression as much. You should be able to mill those down though, without problem, with the TR230.

Like JakeFuzion said, if you're not looking to spend a small fortune for a DD toy, the PRC line-up is a great alternative to the aftermarket castings! With the money you save on the heads, you can buy a FAST 92mm combo and be up on power too DId I mention you don't have to run aftermarket rockers with the PRC's because they are a GM casting??
Let me know if I can help. Those 5.3L heads make great power and with one of the smallest CNC'd intake ports around they still keep you into good low end and mid-range power as well
