Default harmonic balancer bolt

Just wondering how everyone goes about doing up the harmonic balancer bolt without the crank spinning?

You bolt it where the starter mounts. The bellhousing can stay on.

In a stick I put the car in 4th and put the e-brake on. 4th being a direct connection between input and output shafts. If the driveline can take 400+ftlb of tq against my steady 230ft lb I think it will be just fine. Works every time. Just need a BIG *** torque wrench.

Hey I just read about another option to keep the crank from rotating when removing the old crank bolt and installing the new crank bolt.
This works on a Gen5 Camaro with a 6 speed manual transmission:
  1. Put the car in 4th gear
  2. Set the park brake
  3. Chock the tires to keep them from rolling
Sounds like a reasonable procedure.

Default Vendor For A Crank Torque-to-Yield Bolt

I found the crank torque-to-yield bolt a couple of places:
Speed Engineering - GM LS3 Harmonic Balancer Bolt - $12.09 + shipping
GM Parts Direct - Bolt 11570046 - $7.59 + shipping
GM LS3 Harmonic Balancer Bolt M16 X 2 X 125.75mm - $12.09 + shipping

Anyone have a vendor for this crank torque-to-yield bolt they trust and recommend?

You could just get a ARP bolt and call it done. Not sure how much you are looking to spend though. They usually run about $34.00
