Default Did they solve the DI issues?

So did GM solve common direct injection issues?

Like valves coated in oil and carbon build up from not being washed with fuel like regular injection.

That shouldn't be a problem UNTIL the warranty ends. Gotta love it when a plan comes together.

lol

Meth FTW!!! We've done it in a couple of DI engines with good results. A 275k mi GTI still running 20+ lbs of boost with solid pulls all the way to redline. It should help with valve buildup on the NA engines as well

Read about installing a catch can to get the oil out of the air flow from the pcv. I've read the new LT1s and LV3 v6s do something similar but put the condensed liquid back into the oil system.

I thought the buildup on the intake valves (KIA's DI engines) was from the placement of the DI injector. Anyone know where they have that injrcter? WHat about top contour of the piston?

No, the buildup is from the PCV system putting all sorts of crap back into the intake without any fuel/injector to clean off the back of the valve.

The Ford ecoboost has it the worst it seems. But that's mostly crap collecting in the intercooler.

Catch cans are good for most engines but should be a requirement on a DI motor. They don't install one though because they don't like the idea of an owner having to empty sludge out of a car under warranty.

Good to know. I thought GMs newly designed PVC system intergrated into the valve covers were solving the oil problem.

Aye, they plumb it back to the oil pan. Still, that's a lot of sulfur, moisture and crappy oil mist going back into the system. But they are trying.

actually im not sure of that.

it may be where they drain it on an oil change (I would certainly prefer that)

... still digging for more info.

I at least at BMW with there direct injection have seen some pretty good progress compared to the earlier DI motors from 2007. Not sure how this stands with other manufactures.
