LT4 overheating

Default LT4 overheating

did you read the LT4 article about the new Z06 in the LS1tech.com homepage where it would overheat in a autocross or roadracing course. what will fix that bigger radiator? more powerful water pump?

It's been known for a while. Hopefully the next year model will be fixed and/or a TSB will come out.

Its usually only the auto cars that overheat. There is word that GM is offering a fix for it. If you read what gm says, gm states that off the showroom floor its only good for one lap. There are certain simple things that need to be done in order to take the car on the track.

The 2016's are out...same thermal issues. I tuned one last night...heat soak on the dyno very very fast.

I've seen this first hand. 2015 Z06 made it through one 20-minute session at Road Atlanta and was dealing with overheating issues the rest of the day.

Such an amazing car however I would be pretty disappointed about getting stuck in limp mode on my first track day with it.

Has the aftermarket not been able to fix this with a much bigger heat exchanger?

I'm sure GM would have put a bigger one in if they could but size constraints are not the same for a car manufacturer and the end user. IE cutting shrouds. Perhaps the higher spinning TVS wasn't such a good move.

Once they figure this out and they've been in the used market for a while, I'll get one. :-)

Seems like they like to make things that are not needed. I don't remember reading anywhere the issue of the intercooler having air bubbles. All this will do is delay how long it takes to over heat and increase the time it takes to cool down. The solution is more flow and a bigger heat exchanger. Need to remove heat not add more mass to store it.

The ice for drag racing would be beneficial but I see no benefit on the street or road course.

I agree completely. I have seen first hand where there can be issues with guys not bleeding the air out of the system...but that just means you need to do it right if you open it up.

My friend owns a shop that's working on a better heat exchanger...we're trying. He road races the car a lot, so there's a lot of time into the R&D.

As of right now, nothing in GM TSBs on this. Just the "rattle" in the bell housing and other misc BS.
