Max lift with stock springs?

Default Max lift with stock springs?

Google didn't help much, nor a popular FB page. I'm trying to spec a cam that will give me a bump in hp/Torque but keep the stock fuel lobe and valve springs. Low end torque and MPG is more of a concern. Will probably need multiple engines as I will be using this in a truck to put on a lot of miles so don't want to dump much into every engine.

Stock springs are pretty close to max lift. Bind on a stock spring should be roughly 1.280".

Buy a $50 set of LS6 springs.

Are the springs the same for a gen V? And the point was to not have to take the effort to change the springs.

Default Found the answer

Stumbled on LSxelerations website which has what I assume are factory springs and says max lift is .555. Stock L86/LT1 lift is .551 on the intake. I'll just have to plan for new springs and buy the tool.

If i had to guess, they offer an offset lock or retainer to get the height to 1.800". If you take an LS6 spring with a 386 rate and install at 1.88, you would only have 60lbs on the seat.

You are correct, I think it can be done, but to be fair I didn't realize I was in the Gen V section. My fault!
