Default New to the ls world

After quite a few fast rides of all makes and models , I finally dropped into a 1 owner 98 z28 m6 with 100k miles on the clock. I'm looking forward to taking this unmollested z28 and attempting to make it 1 of the quickest stock engine "internally" f-body in the world.

Quickest stock bottom end F-body isn't going to be easy. You've got one hell of a ladder to climb.

I'm going for quickest stock engine completely . No heads no cam , just exterior bolt ons with nitrous . Motor stays untouched but anything outside that is fair game

You still have a long way to go.

There is a 100% stock LS1 long block with a turbo making huge numbers. No heads, no cam, no intake, nothing. Motor is untouched, so I think that falls under your rules. You'd need a 500 shot of nitrous to make his numbers.

Intake and throttle body are fine with me as long as the short block , heads and cam are stock . I'm also m6 so I'm not sure if the car you speak of is auto or stick ? Regardless I think if the motor can handle the raised cylinder pressure , a nitrous car would definitely hole shot a turbo car 99 out of 100 times . That's not to say with a big enough horsepower advantage and boost , you wouldn't get ran down on the big end but I'm honestly not concerned with how much power it makes, just how fast it covers 60 feet and 1320 feet. I had a 449 rwhp lt1 auto with a 150 shot and raced my buddies 2008 twin turbo c6 auto which was making 680 rwhp. Logic says that I shouldn't have stood a chance but in the quarter I'd leave him at the line by 5-6 cars . By the time I crossed the finish line though he was only a car and a half behind me .. I'm gonna try to replicate that suspension setup as much as possible . I'm gonna guess that the turbo car you're talking about swapped oil pumps as well, which is also the only thing inside the motor I'll change ,aside from possible head studs and new head and intake gaskets ,but other than that I'm truly sticking with what came under the hood

Luckily for you I think he has a 6 speed. If it was an auto, you wouldn't have a chance.

Yes and no, if it's a built auto with a trans brake and converter with launch control then yeah I wouldn't stand a chance , a 4l60e stock with a converter isn't gonna handle boost anyways . From my experience though nitrous out of the hole gets you movin a hell of a lot quicker than a turbo does , as long as you can get all that instant hp and tq to the ground you may not trap as high or make the same power but you usually cross the line quicker !

A 6-speed is always going to be slower than an auto for drag racing.
There are stock bottom end guys going faster than the world's fastest 6-speed camaro.

Texas Speed doesn't have the record. Their car ran 9s.

There are 3 stock bottom end LS1s in the 8s. One of them is a Nitrous F-body.
Good luck coming anywhere close to that one with a 6-speed.

Yes, I`m a newbie as far as posting goes. I`ve been a member for a good while. I also just purchased my 1st LS based Car. A 1 owner Z28 SOM M6. As far as fast goes my son is a long time member and his 02 SS was at 10.0`s with a stock block, heads, intake, etc. Power adder was a small turbo. He has since upped the ante with much more ....bigger turbo, custom heads, injectors, etc. So as stated it`s not going to be easy or cheap. Best of luck !
