Default Hi, and questions about non-Fbodies

Hi, i'm from minnesota. I hope to eventually be driving an F-body (as soon as possible) but it's not practical for awhile until like thru college and living somewhere I can have more than two cars parked. (as the girlfriend has the other)

I'm also curious about how welcomed non-Fbody related questions are. :) I came here because there seems to be lots of good Chevy LS information, if there are better places to discuss "general Chevy LS stuff" though maybe someone can suggest other boards to sign up for in addition/instead for those questions so I don't spam the board with off topic things.

So if I talk about Chevy LS swaps into things like 90's bubble Caprices, 90's pickups and all that it's just as good?

I literally searched for 'chevy ls discussion forums' and this place came up first, and I didn't see other great places to talk about Chevy LS stuff... but i'll freely admit all the subforums here are heavily based around gen 4/5/6 fbodies...

I want to talk about things like LS modifications as well, forced induction, learning self tuning, etc. (mostly concerning the engine anyways or engine/trans)

So it seems!

Well i'll say a little more about myself then because it seems i'm in the right place.

I'm a later life college student.

I'd love to drive an F-body as a project vehicle in the future but I expect it to be a number of years before that is feasible. Whether it's vehicle #3 at that time or practicality forces it further down i'm not sure what it will be yet but i've loved them since a kid.

For the moment i'm just trying to learn and coming here is one of my first steps in that direction beyond just maintenance and repair.

Hopefully in maybe 2-3 years I hope to do my first Chevy LS swap into something once I move to minneapolis to stay (currently I intermittently visit) - i have both a chevy caprice and a chevy pickup from the 90's as possible options. Hope to add probably a turbo, and learn to tune it while still having it be daily driver capable. In short first learn the skills before I plan something fancier.

I'd love to make some MN gearhead friends who know more than I do. Willing to come over and turn wrenches for free (life busyness pending) if I can later ask for favors back in the vein of "yeah I helped you swap that engine, so now can we borrow your hoist and you help me throw a transmission in something since I feel too new to do it solo??". :^) That's more likely after i'm in minneapolis fulltime though. (else friends will be hundreds of miles away/starting school up in moorhead)

I hope to/plan to eventually have a machine shop after i'm through grad school to work on really crazy stuff but pretty premature to talk about that until i've done my first LS swap at all!

Here is a good place to start. Power Cruise event that is at Brainerd Raceway every year. Me and my buddies bring our cars every year. The black Cobra on the trailer doing a burnout and the truck are my buddies in the video. You will see our camp at the very end at about the 2:00 marker

As mentioned above, Conversions & Hybrids section is the place for various swap discussions. Or, for general LS1 information/discussion, you can always use the General LSx Discussion section.
