Default LS 70 Cuda

Hello all,
Always been a big fan of LS engines and decide that is going to be the next set of 8 cylinders going in my Plymouth. For many reasons. This should be an extensive project as I already have converted the back to an IRS from a 2010 Camaro and the front frame will be a donor with that can accept Corvette C6 suspension parts. Still working out all the details... I am currently working on the iBooster stuff some of you guys have posted information about. I plan on posting some points of achievement as I get to to them. Just completed a set of upper C6 control arm spacers and bushings to adapt to the uca mount points. I do have a lathe and mill so that is an advantage to making stuff.
Mopar purists need not apply. LOL

To be honest I have given up trying to appease Mopar purists. Everything is 1 of 20. Super rare. Yes I still have the original big block and the original 727, both with the matching numbers to the car.... but the best I am getting out of this combination is maybe 650HP na. They just can't handle much more than that without a massive amount of cash. Then there are the modern Hemi's. Which are not Hemi's.... But Chrysler can call a modern Cuda a Challenger and and the list goes on with the mess they created out of the lineage of historic cars. I have a 1500 Ram (new body) with nothing more than an exhaust and an air cleaner. Love the feel and power in the truck. But for what I have to spend to just get my hands on a Hemi motor from a yard, I can build a decent LS start to finish. Not to mention the E85 thing. I don't understand how Chrysler cannot figure that out. Being in Florida, air and fuel can be challenging during the hot weather.
So yea, Mopar guys will get pissed, But I stopped caring about their drama a long time ago.

Post some pics of car. And why are you cutting up a numbers matching car. Isn't it worth a ton with a the big block and trans ?

So true. I never understood the culture. My days with these cars are back in the late 70's early 80's, yes dating myself, and they were treated just like any other... Put a big engine in it, cut out what you don't need and go as fast as you can. now suddenly all of these cars have become the Holy Grail of muscle cars in their minds. I like this car. Don't get me wrong. But I would be just as happy with a 70 split bumper or a 69 fastback. No preferences to manufacturer. What I find frustrating is the Mopar vs Chevy vs Ford competitions in magazines and online the later 2 are always very modified while the Mopar gets bolt ons to preserve the integrity of the car. Pure BS.

@march11934,

This sounds like an absolutely awesome project! The suspension upgrades alone are a game-changer. It’s going to turn that big ol’ muscle car into a corner-carving machine that’ll handle lightyears better than it did in 1970. We totally get the purist perspective. However, it’s your car, your vision, and your money—build it to fit your goals and interests!

When it comes to the LS engine combo, we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re thinking of a full crate engine or piecing it together part by part, we’ve likely got everything you’ll need for this build.

And here’s a tip: Start a “Build Thread” in the Conversions & Swaps section! Post updates, share your progress, and—most importantly—pictures, pictures, pictures! This community loves to see the transformation and details of a good project.

We’ll definitely be following along as you share updates. Good luck with the build—can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Its a legitimate question. If you have ever driven one of these things, they ride like tanks. Sloppy even with a decent steering box. Torsion bar suspensions are just not great. I would like to get to a pro tour level with the car. No way of doing this with factory parts.
I have some pics of the IRS installed in the original frame rails. But considering redoing this with upgraded 2x3 frame rails. But it was a learning experience. A lot of alignment references. I assume I would add those pics in a suspension post?

No add them right here in your build post. I'm sure others would love to see the progress too.

I Ls swapped my Cuda 3 years ago (the build thread is on this site). I've been daily driving it here in Tx for the past 3 years. Have had 0 mechanical issues. I can get in it and drive wherever, whenever. Aside from my custom exhaust hanging on the ground lol. I'll put an LS in anything that I actually want to drive. Have absolutely no care in the world what strangers think. I'd even LS swap a factory AAR Cuda if I got my hands on one lol.

I am a old mopar guy, but I get it, I have also been tuning and building race cars most of my life. If your looking for big power and at a budget, then LS would be the way.
Me I would do else a twin turbo ls built E85 or supercharged, and go with the Holley Terminator X stand alone ecu very nice and you can run a E85 sensor and have it tuned for E40 or E85 , I run E35-E40 on my turbo it's not as hard on the fuel system, for racing just bump it to E85 or E90 depending on your build, good luck that should be a very nice build when your done.

I totally agree. I really don't get the purist mentality Mopar owners have over the brand. Sure there are a few that might have some heritage or history that make them worth preserving. But overall no differrent than a Chevy or Ford. Do what makes you happy.

You are spot on with the build. Except thinking blower over turbos. Just going with a slightly easier aproach for the first attempt. Can always swing over to turbos at a later date. Been gathering experience with the Terminator X stuff and really like it. Worked out a few tunes with a tuner and getting some experience with it and the data loggers. South Florida area so E85 is a good apraoch. I still have the original engine resting in the corner with the matching trans. Just can't see investing that much money into a build that will get me half the performance. In the end its 8 pistons spinning....
