LS1 3rd gen RX7
I have a '94 RX7 w/ a '99 LS1 6spd and would like to how many 3rd V-8 owners are out there and what additional mods they've made and or problems they have encountered.

I love it, another one! I believe there is a registry for people with your swap on the internet somewhere. There a large group of people who have done your swap.
My best advice is to use the search button to find the other RX7 owners. I just did a quick one and this is what I found:

Congrats on finding this site, next to torquecentral.com it'll be your new best friend.
Just remember when looking at various head/cam etc. upgrades- long tube headers are key and aren't really available for the FD or FC LS1 swaps yet. They give about a 30 hp/tq bump and really let all the other mods shine.

I was poking around and found this LS-1 web site.....
I know,I know yes there is a Mustang in the driveway But,,,there is a 93 RX-7 in the garage and an LS-1 beside it.......
it may be next fall before its running...But no doubt ,,this is gonna be a blast,,,

Brian Hinson has my car and is finishing a automatic to 6spd conversion. I bought the car w/ the LS1 already installed (Hinson kit but converted by a speed shop local to the previous owner ) Along w/ the 6spd he is also installing the air cond , power steering , Koni shocks , springs , sway bars , stainless steel brake lines , Momo steering wheel and sorting out the wiring harness . He is very professional , and I could'nt be happier w/ how things are going . He has not deviated from the original estimate w/ out first talking to me . So far a very pleasent experience. If the a/c lines that where missing can be located I hope to pick it up by weeks end. If anyone is thinking about converting their 3rd gen RX7, call Hinson Supercars during hours of operation and he's sure to pick up the phone and answer any questions.

It isnt all daiseys and butterflies with Hinson. There are folks waiting 6-9 months for radiators. Hell I waited six months for a torque arm and trans crossmember that I was told would take 2 weeks. They arent a "shop" just 2 guys in a garage. Hopefully they have things sorted out but I am still waiting for LT headers that they said were shipping LAST WINTER!!!!!

Welcome aboard, I have a 94 (White) just can't seem to get myself to pull the rotary yet. Next time it blows, or I end up hating the rotary even more, a LS1 will go in.
Turbogarrett- How much do you have done to your car? I just to get a base on what it will run stock or with just alittle bit done. Just asking because it says 12.2's in your sig.

I wish I would have done that last summer when I blew the motor and turbos. For the roughly $2600.00 (motor and turbo's not including everything else I did while I had it out) into that I would have had most the money to do the swap and been going alot faster too. I maybe lucky enough to get the car with the rotary to go maybe go 13.0's in cold weather with the boost turned up.
Your right for the amount of money, a LS1 RX7 is the way to go. Some of the guys who think the rotary is the greatest thing are dead wrong. The rotary is different but the amount of problem with them just don't make the car fun to own imo. I love the car just hate the problems with it.
Both you guy seem to be moving pretty good for basically stock motors. Those times are really impressive to me, my friend had a 2002 Trans Am Auto and that went 13.3's all day long.
As for curb weight on a FD I think they are around 2850 lbs or so but haven't put it on a scale.

I also found my drivers side exhaust pipe was badly crimped after hitting a curb a couple months ago, before I made those runs. It's the best "mod" you can do to an rx7 imo.
