Convert from imports. From HI, living in FL
Hey everyone, my name's Dan and I'm born/raised in HI, but now living in Flordia. Been in the Air Force for over 8 years now. I'm new to the domestic side of things, but now new to the automotive industry. Here's a list of my previous rides:
'98 Nissan 200SX = auto :p
'96 Honda Prelude Si = minor mods (wheels, intake/exhaust, etc)
'96 BMW 540i = too big, gas guzzler, auto
'02 Honda S2000 = minor mods (intake/exhaust, exterior stuff) too small
'04 Subaru STi = minor mods (ran low 13's in 1/4 mile) and stolen!
'04 Mazda RX-8 = just wheels upgraded,4 months later totalled in accident
'04 Mitsubishi Evolution VIII = lots of bolt ons (SCCA Solo II and mid-12's in 1/4)
Due to unfortunate circumstances I had to part out my Evo VIII and get rid of it, but now I am the proud owner of a 1999 Camaro Z28 (6spd, T-tops, white). I looked at a lot of cars before I came to the decision of getting the Z28. In the end I am very happy and love this car. I would've like to have gotten a SS, but couldn't find one in my area.
You'll probably see me posting up once in a while on the forums here, but for now I'm just looking/browsing/searching, trying to learn as much as I can. I don't have any plans for modifications/upgrades right now, still wanna get a feel for the community/industry for this type of car. Definitely want to upgrade wheels/tires though

Welcome! Congrats on the purchase of your Z, don' t worry, you' ll be modding like crazy before you know it. If you had the Evo modded, you' ll definitely mod the Z, it' s very addictive. Out of curiousity, what did you have done to the Evo, it' s been my assumption that those cars are pretty easy to get into the 12' s.

Welcome. Living in Florida (except for the heavy rains) you will not even miss the awd of the Evo. Our cars can be made to get traction without too much effort. Also, contrary to popular opinion (mainly from the import crowd) they can and will go left and right quite well thank you (with the proper mods/suspension tuning). Just ask/look at what Sam Strano and others do with these cars with very restrictive F/Stock & E/Street Prepared SCCA rules!!! Congrats on the car, you'll love the low end torque!

I live in Crestview in Florida. As far as the Evo, I had a lot of bolt-ons (tubular turbo manifold, 3" turbo-back exhaust, HKS intake, HKS EVC5 boost controller, ECU Dynoflash, ACT Clutch, SAFC II, TurboXS intercooler, RVM intercooler pipes) as far as engine mods. They are pretty easy to get into the 12's.

Where in Hawaii did you grow up? Oahu?
Well, enjoy your new LS1; 4th gen fbodies are great cars, quite a big difference from an Evo for sure, but a good difference none the less. You'll enjoy the torque for sure hehe.

Is that black Z28 yours? Thats pretty nice man. Thats kinda what I'm lookin' for. What mods have you done to your car so far?
I don't think anyone other Evo guys in Oahu beat my time either yet. Supposedly there are a few getting some good mods done, but haven't gotten good times yet
I'm hoping my Z-28 will woop my Evo times
PM me back on what you've done with yours so far. I'm still pretty new to this side of things.

You'll be gettin the LS1 to the evo times in no time. Good choice, LS1's are great engines and can make nice power with not a whole lotta $$. When you need some suggestions just post and someone will help ya out. Once again, nice to see an import guy tryin the domestic side.
