Weatherman from Denver..
Hello everyone. O.k. I admit I have been a member for a couple of years. I just read and searched. I didn't feel like I knew enough, so I was afraid to post.
Enough of that! My name is Shawn. I just moved to the Denver, Colorado region. Great location. Yes, I am a Meteorologist (fancy name for a Weatherman). And, please don't blame me for all the hot weather. I just forecast it, I don't make it happen. Though, I am tough enough to take all the weatherman jokes you can throw at me.
Weathermen can like LS1's too! Got a 2002 Camaro Z-28 Hard-Top coupe. Well, Denver's air is about 22% thinner than sea-level, so I just added a cam and head combo to try to make up for the loss of power (see sig). I am having a few problems. I am one of those who added the Comp Cam Pro-Magnum 1.75 Rockers along with the Torquer 2 and LS6- Heads. But, I have a great installer and a great tuner (Hugger Orange), so we are confident we will get it running to it's potential.
I just wanted to introduce myself. If you need a weather forecast (not a guess), let me know. I'll post later on any suggestions to help me figure out what is causing my power loss at ~5800 rpm.
Thanks for listening to me. Great site!

Welcome to the site as member finally.
If you can tell me when it will rain in 76240/76205 area, or drop out of the 100s, that would be great. My prediction is 2+ weeks.....

Good call Brandon! You probably won't see a lick of rain or a break from the heat for at leat 1-2 weeks. No flow from the Gulf of Mexico. Stay cool!

Yea, sorry about all that hot weather. Texas is locked in to at least another 1-2 weeks...
Good point on the Rockers. We are going to try another pushrod length first..Stock rockers may end up being the solution. Thanks, and I appreciate all the nice greetings from everyone.

try switching back to the stock rockers with correct length pushrods and see if the float goes away.
alot of aftermarket rockers have alot of weight over the tip and alot have been shown to cause valve float.
Stockers were fine for me on my 408, though nasty performance takes stockers and makes them even better. But I guess you are looking for the added ratio too...

Thanks for the ideas. I'll let you know how it goes. Had went with the Comp 1.75 Roller Rockers for that little extra edge, and quiet down the valvetrain a bit. Will go back to stock rockers if that is the problem. I appreciate all the help. Should have it worked out shortly. Thanks again for the nice welcome.

Weatherman from Denver
Thanks again everyone for the nice greeting. I did 8 years in the U.S.A.F. as a weather observer, then as a weather forecaster. Just finished up 15 years with United Airlines as an Aviation Meteorologist.
Always loved Colorado..now I've settled in Denver.
I believe the valvetrain issue I previously had ~5800rpm's is solved. Removed the Comp Cam 1.75 Roller Rockers..Went back to stock rockers, and actually went with a shorter pushrod (7.375" vs 7.4).
No dyno to verify, but there was no hesitation in the upper rpm's from my test drive. Must have solved it, as it only took me 15 minutes of driving to totally smoke my clutch.
Now getting the LS7 Clutch kit installed. Should hold me just fine. I'm happy where I'm at power-wise. Previous dyno was 391HP SAE at 5800 rpm, before power dipped. Estimating ~420HP. Everything helps at this altitude.

Fellow Weatherman..
Biloxi must have been pretty cool. I did Chanute A.F.B. in IL.
See your dewpoint was up to 21C today! That must be nice with those temps. I'm sure your main challenge must be timing your aftn TS during monsoon season, huh?
O.K., we better knock-off the weather talk. Nice to meet a fellow weatherman!
