New to LS1-Ready to Mod
New to LS1-Ready to Mod I have been trying to sell my 02 Lightning to get into an LS1 car for about 6 months and I finally gave up and traded with a local dealership for a 2000 WS-6 Auto. I really wanted an M6 but I was tired of waiting. I also own an 06 Trailblazer SS with the LS2.
I recently find myself owning two LSx vehicles with no prior experience with these engines. Before this I owned the Lightning, an 01 Cobra, a 92 Talon TSi with a built motor, and a 90 Nissan 300zx twin turbo. I am looking forward to seeing the potential of these great LSx engines, have read many of the newb FAQs and am looking forard to start modding.
One question I had that I haven't searched for yet is what cam will work the best with an auto? Does it make a difference?

Welcome to the wonderful world of the LS1. And to answer your cam question...there is no answer to that question, you need to decided what you want to do with the car and narrow that question down some, there is no "best cam", but there are better cams than others depending on your application.

I'm looking for a dependable daily driver that my wife won't mind driving. I'm sure she wouldn't enjoy driving something with a huge overlap so it sounds like something in the 224 range is what I'm looking for, maybe with 112 LSA. Sounds like whatever I decide to go with I have to decide on a method of tuning first. I've never tuned anything myself so I'm a little scared. 
There's a shop that tunes Diablosport stuff a couple of hours away, I may just go that route.

My 2 pennies I would go with a poly engine & trans mounts, LCA's, Torque Arm, Pan Hard rod, and some sub frames along with a good HP tune, some nice 10.4 wires some new plugs and lid that should put that car in a happy place
if you havnt hit up your local reginal forum (at the bottom of the forum index) i'd go over there and look around to see where everyone is getthign there stuff tuned. what part of NM? internet famous driver lurks the albi area...

shouldn't of given up your search and comprimised...but, too late for that now. Anyways, w/ regards to tuning, make sure that, whereever you go, they have experience tuning LS1 F-bodies
