F-Body Addiction from Damascus, MD
Well, I finally made it to LS1Tech! I probably know a bunch of members from other boards I've belonged to for the past two years (when I bought my first f-body), but for everyone else...
I'm addicted! I just bought my fifth f-body and this one has an LS1. The others are 305s, 355 and 3800. With the bad weather we've been having I haven't taken her out of the shop yet, but I do hear the sun will be out this weekend so I'll have my shot at it. I tend to buy salvage or wrecked f-bodies (not all of them) and restore them, hopefully, to better than they were when I got them. I don't have any pics of the '99 Camaro or the '00 TransAm after repairs, but if we have some nice weather in the coming days I'll do my best to repost.
So -- here's my stable:
'87 Camaro Z28 (see my sig for mods).
When I got her -
After a major overhaul -
'92 Trans Am Convertible (Stock 305 TPI, automatic) - I call her my parade car.
'92 Trans Am WS6 Convertible (Stock 305 TPI, automatic)
'99 Camaro (6-cylinder, automatic) - The passenger door rec'd a hard hit that you can't see in these pics, but she's all fixed now and is my daily driver.
My newest addition - '00 Trans Am Formula (LS1, 6sp)
Recent Mods - WS9 Outlaw Hood, WS6 front clip, RamAir, swaybar, blackouts, custom 18" wheels and Falken tires - I'll be sure to post pics after this weekend when I get her tagged. The damage was luckily mainly body damage - a little pull on the core support, new parts and paint and she's back to beautiful.
BTW - I own all of these cars, can't seem to part with them after I buy them, lol. I don't do a lot of work to my cars -- the b/f owns a body shop and he does all the body work and custom paint, and I take my cars to Atomic Speed Shop (also called Showtime) in Rockville for the mods that are beyond my limited skill level. Needless to say, they love to see my number on their caller I.D.
This is a great site and I've been a lurker for nearly two years. Glad I finally have a reason to do more than lurk. Oh, and if you know of a 12-step program....

I don't think there will be any leg-humping...I'm too old for this crew. Some old ladies like to go to the Mall -- I like to buy cars, lol.

There is an F-body shop in Glen Burnie you might wanna check out. Performance Specialties, Inc. 410-766-7774. Jeff is probably the best tuner in Maryland. Little bit of a hike for you, but I wouldn't take my baby anywhere else
BTW......several single digit cars out of that shop.

Thanks for the heads up about Jeff though -- I've heard good things about Performance Specialties, I think I've even talked to Jeff before. Isn't that where Pathogen takes her car?

Pics or in person? I'm on so many boards -- camarosource.ca, f-bodyhideout, thirdgen.org, camaroz28.com, z28.com, clubhioctane, motortopia, and I try to hit most of the Maryland and Northern Virginia gatherings, Jimmie Cone in Mt. Airy during the spring/summer months, and I'm not afraid to drive it -- I was in Ocean City for a few hours this past May with all the other hot rodders - if you're in Maryland, could be anywhere -- if you're not, then it's probably from pics. It's also been on the camarosource calendar and a couple of online mags as feature of the month too. Was supposed to be on the Sherwin Williams car calendar for 2007, but the b/f switched over to PPG paint so I lost that opportunity...boo hoo.
Thanks for the welcomes...I can tell I'll be spending a lot of time on this site once the mods begin on the T/A. I'm already thinking about putting a 410 or 411 rear in it...but then again, it's going to be my daily driver, so....
Leg humping may be resumed...

Actually I believe that Pathogen takes her car to F-Body Central and speaks with a guy named Jason. If that has recently changed and she goes down to PSI then I am incorrect. But AFAIK she still hangs with the FBC crew.

Basically, I bought a 39-mile used TH-400 and a NIB torque converter from a customer of his. FBC installed the tranny and converter (poorly, i might add) and also did my turbo install. The car was a mess. The tuning was bad to put it nicely. Cost me several thousand dollars for everything. Took it to Jeff at PSI and he basically laughed. Wires were not grounded. Center console was hacked up. Nothing looked professional at all! There were wires that were electrical-taped together!!! The tune called for 14 degrees in the high octane table and 24 degrees in the low octane table!!! Jeff charged me the same as they did to remove and reinstall EVERYTHING! It needed to be done. So, when the "brand new" TC ate up my tranny, we pulled the tranny to look at everything. TAA-DAA, what do you know? A used converter that was installed in place of my brand new one. Wonder where that new one went? Maybe in Jason's pocket? I called TCI (brand new one) and verified that the numbers on the casing were theirs. They weren't. Then when I posted it on a local F-body site, not only was it deleted because F-body Central owns the site, but Jason also threatened me. I confronted Jason about it and he swore that it was the same TC. Then I told him that I knew it wasn't and how I knew. He didn't have an answer and told me to send him a list and price of everything Jeff fixed so he could reimburse me, which I did. Never heard from him. To my knowledge, there is at least 1 lawsuit against that shop/Jason. He is a scam artist. He told me he would reimburse the money and never did. I have emailed him several times, called several times to no avail. I WOULD AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS!!!! I wouldn't let them change my oil.
