Default LS1 In A 70 Vette

Hey guys just found out about this place a week or so ago when I started asking some questions about my next project. I would love to be able to install an LS1 in my vette. I have touched every nut and bolt on the car so far at least once. It still has the original block. But just about everything else has changed at least once since I have had the car. Right now the car has a 5 speed tranny and rack and pinion steering. It has been a lot of fun but I am ready to rachet it up a notch. I think an LS1 is next on my list of stuff to do. So what do you guys think?

Welcome to the site, that is a beautiful vette

I think your post might be moved to a diff section by the mods, so more people can help you out.

Good luck to you Eddie. Sounds like a nice project, keep us updated.

As stated before, check out the Hybrids section. That's where I searched when I was contemplated a similar swap.

I've always wanted a 69 or 70 convertible Vette. Looks great. Have fun with the swap.

An LS2 is a little out of my price range right now. An LS7 is so far gone its not funny. Would be very cool to have either one right now. I am hoping to get an 01 or 02 LS1 with the computer and accessories. I have seen a few on here for sale but they are far and few between. I have one thread bookmarked that had one in it, I am just a little behind on my play money right now. I keep my credit card paid off and do not want to put anything on it or I would do the LS2.
This is one mod that is going to happen to my car. I have wanted FI for sometime. I have always thought I would keep it stock looking by using the Commander 950 setup then put the stock air cleaner on it. I am now waiting on the right deal to come along and then I am going to jump on it.

Personally. I would leave the stock intake on it, and install some custom fuel rail covers, with `70 specific badging or text. I' m a little bias though. If you have an original un-restored, or numbers matching car keep it original in appearance. If you want to upgrade for maximum style and performance, update the **** out of it! My old man has a 57 Vette I want to restore, but it will sport ATLEAST C4 suspension, if something newer isn' t available by the time I can afford to do it. It will also have the most up to date GM high performance power plant, that I can swing.

Welcome, Come on over to the Conversions and Hybrids forums as suggested. There are several people who have done the LSx in a C3 plus many others who can help you with info. Very helpful crowd there. I really like your car, you will love it with LS1 power. Very drivable with great power and even good gas maileage.

Nice vett. It has been done before (LS1 in C3) but you might have trouble finding any longtubes for it. You might have to settle for shorties. The hybrid section might help you out more.

Thanks for all the compliments. This car is so far away from being stock anymore it does not matter. Besides that, stock does not matter to me anyway. It is my vette and I have built it to suit me since the beginning. Black was not a stock color in 70, it is my color of choice. I have added leather seats, Steeroids Rack and Pinion, Keisler 5 speed, aluminum heads, aluminum intake, aluminum water pump, etc. etc.

How bout a few more pics?

My new Stayfast Top
