Proper terms for LS engines

Proper terms for LS engines Hello everybody.I am from SE LA.I have been into hot rodding SBC for many years,now I would like to learn proper tech on LS engines.I am building a 1931 ford model A 5 window coupe semi pro street. I have a 2003 5.3,what is the proper name and the differance between LS,LS1,LS2,etc?
LQ4/LQ9 5.3/6.0 truck iron motor (Various piston and heads combinations were the difference between all of them)
LS1 Aluminum 5.7 (1998-2004? Corvettes and Fbody's)
LS2 Aluminum 6.0 (GTO, C6 corvette, Trailblazer SS etc)
LS3 Aluminum 6.2 (aka L92 in the new escalades/yukon's)
LS4 impala/monte carlo's
LS6 Aluminum 5.7 (different cam heads etc)
LS7 Aluminum 7.0 427
Im sure im missing some and a few details but this is the majority of the info you need pretty much. Im sure someone with more info will come in and explain whatever it is you are looking for alot better. Hope this helped some...

If you just want to heap them all together, just call them "LS series engines" or "LSx engines." Also correct would be a "Gen 3 small block," though few will know what you're talking about there.
