Default Random tech or Magnaflow catback for my H/C Z28?

I've got a 93 z28 with a 383/CC306 build. This car is LOUD as all hell at all times, idle, cruising, WOT and I want to quiet it down a ton. My current exhaust is basically no exhaust... LT Headers to bullet mufflers turned down at the front seats.. MAYBE 3 feet of exhaust total. The previous owner was a retard.

I've got a 3" electronic cutout I'll be using for play time, so I'm looking for a cat back that will flow good and quiet the beast as much as possible. Right now I can get a really good deal on either a full Magnaflow catback, or a full Random Technologies catback. Any opinions on either or are there any other systems I should look at?

i'd go with something larger than 3", but if you want to stick with that i'd go with a magnaflow single in/out

I'd say magnaflow. I have one on my bolt on car and it's pretty mild. It has gotten louder since I first put it on but not much.

Yeah I'm leaning towards the Magnaflow, but I just want to make sure it will quiet it down enough. I have an awesome audio setup to put in and I wanna be able to hear it lol

Out of those choices i would go magnaflow. But if i were you, i would consider the hooker catback instead.

The Hooker is quieter than Magnaflow? I thought the hooker was a more aggressive sounding system?

I got magnaflow with custom true duals ,no cats and my car is kinda quiet at idle but almost silent when rolling at low rpm's.Once I get on the gas to have fun it f&%kin screams and has put many of louder cars in the rearview real quick.Guess that isn't sayin much though!MAGNAFLOW for the win!Btw where I live cops hate real quick so I don't have a choice but to be quiet!

Both are actually quiet. They probably would sound the same as far as loudness at idle goes. Only reason i would say go with Hooker is because it has a more deeper and muscle car sound to it than magnaflow. Magnaflow IMO, has a smooth crisp sound. I just ditched magnaflow for TSP duals just because i wasnt impressed with the sound.

Magnaflow is popular because its a stainless steel system, and the fact that its not too loud and wont get annoying. But i just wish that it was a bit more louder.

I always wanted all my cars to be louder louder louder...

This car with the 383/cc306 is louder than anyone would ever want. You can't hear music or talk even at idle.

Since your wanting to calm it down, i would go with hooker for sure. I love the muscle car sound and deep rumble. But you will be happy with magnaflow for sure.

I changed out my Corsa after my cam install. Too loud. The stainless steel Magnaflow is great. It's gotten deeper and meatier over the last 6 months since install. I get a lot of appreciative comments on the sound. Can't speak for Hookers. Are they also stainless with lifetime guarantee?
