Default Threw in the towel with ARE

I have officially given up on ARE.I said I would fill everyone in when I got to this point so here goes.I drove up to Detroit today to meet ARE at W2W.They brought the car to W2W as I guess a final service per my request. They wanted to build a new engine for me but I have lost faith in their word and quite frankly the quality of their work.I had been kicking the idea of going to see Kurt at W2W since talking with him at N vs S in June.I made the decision this week that no matter what ARE was not doing anything else to my car.I will make a decision on spray or turbo after Kurt sorts through the used parts, two junk blocks, half of the motor plate and a partial TNT F-5 kit that ARE sent with the car.My new TNT kit was thrown in a box,and the bottle is missing.I took digital pics of the car and parts but don't have anywhere to host them.I got took for probably 15k but I feel better about this whole situation after turning my ride over to Kurt.I don't have to worry about shady deals, theft of customer money by shop owners or endless lies anymore.Kurt says spray or boost I'll be ready for Thunder.

John,Tony,Stephen,Brains thank you for letting my speak my mind in the past on this subject. It felt good to vent and tell other potential victims about ARE.This is the best part of this site,if you have a legitimate complaint it isn't deleted or censored in some way.On the other boards a unsuspecting victim would have no idea ARE is shady due to administrators locking or deleting threads.

I've followed your entire ordeal and I personally feel your position is valid and completely justifiable. you were made promises and they were not kept and 2 Years is way too long for anything . I am sorry for your loss and I hope your have better luck now. Nick and ARE , you really fumbled the ball on this one . posting promises to "change things" and serving up the same ol' baloney is not good business practices. you need to make things right moneywise with this man . the threads on this site are not helpin' ya any.

cant help you out with your situation, but i can suggest if you want you can open up an account with photobucket.com. it is free and you can host links to your pics as they allow it unlike some of the web hosts..

W2W will get it done. I wish I lived near that shop in case I ever want to do a custom turbo kit.

Good luck in the future with your car Dave. You shouldn't need any with it at W2W though.

That is the reason why I went to W2W.I wanted a turbo system in the first place but it didn't work out with ARE and QMP.I know when Kurt is done with my car I'll get the 8 second slip I have been wanting for the last two years. They have an awesome shop and reputation so I feel confident we can be ready for Thunder's race.

Sorry to hear about your results with ARE Dave. I guess my results are a bit better, how much so I don't know. My 346 Street Eliminator motor was finally pulled earlier this year, and a new LS6 346 block with new crank and new cam and old pistons installed under "warranty". The old block was built entirely wrong according to Nick Agostino. Wrong rings, wrong wall clearance, etc. The "new" crank was shot as well.

This motor made the HP on the dyno according to ARE but burns about 1/2 a quart of oil when driven easily. When driven hard it burns considerably more. This after me adding a catch can and the truck PCV valve. ARE aren't interested in fixing their screwup, nor do I believe they have the staff or funds to do so even if they wanted to.

Like you, this fiasco has been going on since January of 2003. Unlike you, I've had my car the whole time outside of few weeks here and there and it is driveable. I guess I'm lucky it's only just over an hour from my house to their place.

Be glad you got your car and parts back now. I can't see the doors being kept open for too much longer. They're dug a hole so deep they couldn't climb out of it with an extension ladder.

That's what everyone waiting on ARE to finish up a project should keep in mind. They may get you your stuff eventually but will it be right.A high profile member of our board made a statement to me at N vs S that really stuck with me.He said if you can afford it have Kurt @W2W to at least check your car over really well before driving it.This guy is well connected in our community, and his opinion is definitely worth listening too.

This weekend was the first in months that I haven't thought of doing cavemen like things to a couple guys in Toronto. My blood pressure has probably dropped 30 points also since Friday.

You're right on ARE about their impending closure. They're down to a 3 man shop and they haven't been paid in a month.Brian,Pete and Fern good luck in the future.

Warbird if you're reading, all it takes is a trip to Detroit and some cash and you can end your frustration.

BTW, when I say it burns a 1/2 quart of oil or more, that's per tank of gas.

Who are W2W? My car has to get fixed by someone this winter. ARE have proven themselves incapable and probably won't be around. I've got a 346 with forged pistons, 226/226 cam and stock valved ported heads. It should be a simple motor to build for a shop with any sort of competency.

From what I see there's APE in Michigan, and now I hear of W2W, and I guess there's Livernois for my "name" options. I went with ARE originally a few years ago because of their name. I guess MUD has 3 letters in it too though.

I recently told Warbird to take the car to Detroit to finish it off, at least for the tuning.

I feel for the guys who are left volunteering there and those who got smart and recently left. They're a good group of people stuck in a no-win situation which was not necessarily their fault.

Richard,

Leave me out of this. I have my own problems to deal with.

I have spoken to 422SS and he knows where I stand.
