Default Anybody else have problems with SDPC?

I've ordered some parts from them before, and while they weren't the quickest to get them to me, they were reasonable. I ordered some wheel studs on 11-23-02. I STILL have not received them. When I emailed them about it a over a week ago they took 2 days to reply. They told me they didn't have them in stock, and that it would be 12/5 before they shipped. How the hell does it take that long? Even if they had to get them from another dealer I don't see how it takes that long. Considering their high shipping costs I expect to get what I pay for. They are just DAMN slow. Just an FYI for people out there.

It's always a good practice to ensure the product is in stock prior to ordering. This way if you need them ASAP, you can get them elsewhere if they will have to order them. Everyone runs out of stock now & then....not to mention every retail/mail order place is probably swamped right now dealing with Xmas.

I personally thaught SDPC had very good service. I bought a set of Scat rods from them and I ordered them on a Friday and they were on my door step the following Wednesday. I will admit their email service might not be the best in the world but they are willing to help you in anyway possible and I can see how some emails get missed and customers don't get 200% attention. I am not going to bash them b/c I work as a parts salesman and it gets tough sometimes. Them and Speed Inc. have great customer service IMO.

Ordered valves from them a couple months ago and got them in 3-4 days.

One of our moderators just ordered a complete engine for an older Camaro of his, and it was delivered the next day.

SDPC has excellent service. I guess Joe is just looking to add some more sponsors to his whiner list?

LOL

Update.

My timing chain came in just now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Good and quick shipping from SDPC as usual but I still think they need to work on their customer service a little. If youre going to offer via web sales then you need to reply to emails a little quicker.

I've ordered from SPDC a three times. Two of those times I was in a real bind time wise and need the parts fast. I told SPDC I had to have the parts in hand with in a few days. SPDC checked to make sure they had the parts in stock and shipped that day. In each case two or three days later the parts arrived in a timely manner. I was very pleased with SPDC and will use them again for other stuff.

BTW one of my purchases was a crank bolt as I really wasn't sure the local dealer knew what they were talking about when they finally decided they had one in stock. Better safe than sorry, so I ordered one from SPDC too. So SPDC will take care of small $$$ orders too!

Alonzo is right about customer service sometimes, for example Comp Cams cam help line <img border="0" alt="[kaboom]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" /> goats

I was expecting the same service again because I'm in the middle of doing my heads/cam swap and need the timing chain ASAP. Still waiting after 2 days for an email telling me if at least it already shipped.

I did have trouble getting hold of anyone calling at 4:00 in the afternoon, but in the morning, no problem, got right through.

I was very surprised to order a motor Thursday and have it delivered Friday. SDPC and FedEx Ground have their act together. The motor beat the small parts here (delivered by UPS on Monday).

The only thing I'm disappointed with is the packaging of the GM Flywheel that I ordered. (I have not talked to SDPC about this, BTW). Half of the business side of it is *rusty*, obviously no anti-corrosion treatments were used on that part of it. I know the rust will knock right off, but it's more than "just a little" surface rust, there is some more serious rust on there. I know it's not SDPC's fault, they can't open every box and inspect every part as it goes out the door.

I ordered a bunch of items from them in the middle of Nov. Never recieved them. I called to check the status of the order and they told me my CC was refused . I asked them to go over the info and it turns out they had the CC # completely out of whack. I gave it to them a second time and they shipped the order. I recieved the order and it was missing the ARP stud kit even though the packing slip said it was there and I was charged for it. I called back and they were very apologetic and said they would ship it Fed Ex that very day. That was mon. and I still had not recieved it yesterday. I called again and was told it was shipped on tues. It arrived at my US address today. I will pick it up mon. and hopefully there will be no more surprises.

Well I guess these are just more whiners Tony?
This just shows they make their fair share of mistakes at SDPC.

I ordered a ZO6 clutch from them back in august - I used the part number I got from another sponsor and checked SDPC web site - it listed it only as a flywheel and only $285... I called and got great service to make sure it was the entire clutch and flywheel ordered it that day was in Delaware by the end of that week. You cant please everyone 100% of the time... but if you ask me theyre doing pretty good for the volume they push out the door.

I finally got a shipping number by calling them today. IT shows they are out for delivery. Should be here today. I was not informed that these were not in stock. I wasn't told anything. I guess they just expectedme to wait 20 or more days w/o asking any questions.

Some of you just love kiss *** to these sponsors hoping you get something in return. I see that WAY too much on this site anymore. Sure as hell is misleading.

Based on what I'm hearing here and my own experience ... they are just like every other vender in this industry ... if they have it in stock, great no problems. But, if they have to order in from thier supplier, watch out.

You never get a definitve answer and the delay is always the suppliers fault.

Personally this industry as whole hasn't got a clue as to how to manage thier suppliers and even less of clue as to how to keep thier customers informed of the truth. They would rather imply that they they'll have the part in a day or so and get it right out to you; than tell you the truth, they have no idea when the supplier will deliver and no inclination to try and manage that proceess.

It's not just SDPC, I've had the same experience with a good many of the names on the right hand of side of this site. All good people, all willing to help, all excusing that they are at the mercy of their supplier, instead of managing thier supplier.
