Default TCI AND SUMMIT big BIG let down

Well I wanted a new converter and I figured I would try a tci as they come on this board and sponsor. I ordered a 4000 stall from summit and installed it into my car. As soon as it was installed I knew something was wrong. The car wouldnt go more than a 2 mph roll under 4000 stall and gave off tons of heat. I removed the converter and put in my old stall. Back to perfect. I called summitt and the assclown on the phone tells me since a 4000 stall your car wont move before 4000 and there is nothig wrong with it. Now I have had 4400 stalls in my car before that I could keep up with traffic at a much lower rpm than 4000. He told me that he called tci and that is what I should get from there 4000 stall converter. I told him I wanted to return it and he said they wont do that and I would have to send it back to tci and have them cut it open to check it. ( Not totally unreasonable ) but he said if they think its fine then I have to pay for that too. Now should I trust these guys to be honest when they sent me a crap converter strait off and it passed there inspection process?? All I can think to myself is I should have bought a Yank!!! I have a feeling I am out the 500 bucks for this paper weight.

Out of all the $hit I have bought, and returned to Summit, I had NEVER had a problem with their customer service. I have even returned a clutch that burned up three days after I installed it, called them, returned it, and even got my refund by the end of the day they recieved it. I would consider calling again, speaking to someone else, and go from their.

I am going to call tci. It just sucks that right off the bat I had to pay for the install the converter and then to reinstall another converter .So thats 500 for the converter and another 450 for the install and removals. Now I can pay to ship it to Tci . What if there converters really are this loose? I mean loose enough to make my vig 4200 feel like a 2800? Then Ill be stuck paying for the inspection too. nothing like trying to savve a couple of bucks and then spending a ton more than the yank would have cost me upfront. Once again Im stuck in a bad spot. Hopefully Tci Will help me out alot more than the jerk on the phone at summitt

I am with you on that. They used to stand behind everything. I really have the worst luck. I wouldnt have bought from them is I thought this would be the case!
Maby this is there new policy. Find the guy with no extra money to spend and bend him over

I guess its jegs or somewhere else for all my needs that a sponsor cant handle.

Ill also say that I have had tci products in the past and was happy with them . I know this kind of stuff happens every once in a while to everyone. Im just bummed as I was looking foward to some really good performance from the tci. Ill have to call them tomorow and see how they handle these things.

Moving this to vendor feedback. I'd call Kevin at TCI; he has been very helpful to folks around here, but Summit, a non-sponsor, seems to be the problem here.

Next time, buy from a sponsor if you can. I don't know if Summit cares about what is said on this board, but most sponsors are smaller shops relying on word of mouth and move fast to take care of problems. Plus they know how a 4000 stall in an LS1 behaves.

TCI has the best customer services hands down. I have watched them fix converters that were not even built buy them to gain a customer. Had a TCI 3500 for 3 years and sent it to them to restall higher. Got it back and put in but didnt make it a mile down the road. Sent it back to TCI and found out it was a weld in the turbo spline that had broken. All of this was repaired at no cost to me. If you want a no hassel company that will take care of you go with TCI. They are customer serivce.

Kevin took care of me also, got my converter back real fast after I found out my clutch was out in my 3500. I was not happy after I talked to this other Clown guy on the phone from TCI when I asked him what we can do to not have the clutch go out again and he told me pretty much cross your fingers. That is when I was told to call Kevin from a board Member and he took care of me.
