Thumbs down Racetronix terrible management

Bought a kit for my 99ss. The weatherpak plug on the PNP harness was incorrect. They show the correct one on the website but the one I recieved was different and had to be changed. Cost me extra. All racetonix does is deny it and try to say that it was user error. A certified GM as well as electrical engineer did the install and he was not wrong the plug was. Racetrronix will not own up to its mistake at all. Think twice before doing any business with them, they have no integrity they only want your money and could care less what happens to you after.

I have not received my product yet but they have been pretty responsive to e-mails. I did get ignored a little bit but I was asking for the dual Walbro setup with boost activated hobs switch. They were concerned about me installing it. I will see how things go once I start the install.

I just had a 98 Pump installed today at Don Lee's Auto.

Seems no problems, and its holding 60 PSI of pressure. System seemed to be pretty flawless, of course I didnt do the install.

Hope you have better luck with yours.

The best way to get Racetronix products is to buy them from board sponsors.I tried to contact Racetronix directly with no response.I gave up and just ordered the injectors I needed from Thunder and I had them in a couple days.

It is interesting that you state the weatherpack plug was different and had to be changed yet don't state what was different about it. Jack at Racetronix normally runs a tight ship. Is it possible that someone made a mistake? Yes. Humans make mistakes.

So, now you blame Racetronix versus the installer? Is it possible the installer made the error? The answer here is yes...it is possible. I've seen many high performance shops make errors. I've also seen installers/shops try to figure out how a newly released product works or gets put in. I'm very suprised you say it cost you extra money. If the connector was indeed incorrect, I'm sure Jack would have replaced it for you. Unless, of course, you were difficult and impatient.

A certified GM ( GM what?) AND electrical engineer worked on your car? How did you manage that one? Food for thought: the smart person is not always the wisest one.

Not going to get into this with another. The pnp where it plugs into the factory fitting this is the pnp part of it was wrong. Plain and simple. If you want to say it was user error go ahead, you weren't there, you honestly dont have clue but yet you can make a judgement call from the internet. OK! There are two different kits, one for plastic tank one for a metal tank but it is not possible in your opinion that someone could have got them wrong before it got to me. That is total one sided horseshit logic. You want to go by that go ahead. The part was wrong for my car and thats all there was to it. I wouldnt even have been that upset about it if Racetronix had taken a little responsibility and said its possible, but they flat out deny that they could make a mistake which is total bunk. They're freaking human just like the rest of us, but you want to put them above that because you think Jack runs a tight ship. The part was wrong. As far as results it runs great and making a new plug was a snap for the guy, but I paid for PNP!

99blanco.....calm down. This forum is for feedback, not bashing. Do not attack other members just because their opinions differ from yours. He offered a different opinion, so what. You weren't real clear about 2 kits - being for different tanks - in your first post. Had you been, NOSJohn may or may not have offered his counter-view so adamantly. We'll not know. Either way, cool it off a few notches.

Did you take pictures or save the part in question?
Did you follow through on obtaining resolution through your Racetronix dealer?

The connectors on the end of the F99 harness are Delphi Metri-Pack 150 Series not Weather-Pack. In order for the wrong Weatherpack connector to be placed on the end of the harness Delphi Weather-Pack terminals and seals would have to be installed instead of Delphi Metri-Pack 150 Series terminals and seals. During the manufacturing process the pre-stripped wires are hand-fitted with series-specific seals and then inserted into a terminal crimping press. The terminal crimping press is fed with a roll of terminals which are all the same. The terminal press's applicator is fitted with a die which is designed to crimp a specific terminal, seal and wire type. The terminals are all soldered by hand and then inserted into their specific terminal-compatible connectors which are pre-picked and counted. Terminal locks are then inserted into the back side of the connector to prevent the terminals from backing out. The wires are loomed and heatshrunk.Unlike Weather-Pack connectors, Metri-Pack 150 Series connectors have gender-specific terminal cavities. In other words a female Metri-Pack 150 Series connector will only accept a female Metri-Pack 150 terminal. A Metri-Pack 150 terminal will not fit any type/series of connector. It would take a considerable amount of effort on Racetronix part to go about changing the seal, terminal and connector type while being unnoticed on one harness during multiple stages of the assembly and the inspection process. It is far more likely that your installer was confused by the harness's layout or installed the wrong type of harness. As soon as your installer suspected a problem he should have had you contact your Racetronix dealer who most likely could have clarified the situation or contacted us. We were not given the opportunity to address this problem and the only time we became aware of it was when we stumbled across your post and then called your dealer for insight into what had already transpired.

To our valued customers we recommend the following:

1. Fully inspect the product when it arrives at your doorstep to make sure there are no missing parts or damage. Check product tags and the associated parts, connectors etc. Our hi-rez web pictures are a great aid in this respect.

2. If you suspect a problem with the product review the manual and / or contact the vendor immediately. Please do not wait weeks or months to do this.

3. If there is a problem arrange for an exchange. PLEASE DO NOT attempt to install or modify the product. Warranty or exchanges will not be honored on modified product.

4. If you run into a problem during the installation procedure stop what you are doing and contact a Racetronix dealer for help. If you must proceed with the installation make sure you THOROUGHLY document (take pictures) and / or keep the parts in question. Verbal claims without these items can not be honored.

5. LS1TECH or any other forum is not an official medium for obtaining help from Racetronix or its dealers. Racetronix and our dealers are here to help via phone and e-mail. Racetronix support dept. is open 24/7 and in most cases a reply can be had in a matter of hours simply by e-mailing support@racetronix.com. All authorized dealers have made a commitment to provide first tier support for Racetronix product.

If you run into a problem give us and our dealers a fair try at helping you out before taking a shot at us on a forum. You will find that we are quite willing to help our customers that are willing to work with us. Customer satisfaction is a team effort.

Gotta say, that's as detailed of a response as I have ever seen in a feedback, I think Jack is being very fair and cool.

Like I stated: Jack runs a tight ship and knows his stuff. One can only make the directional assumption it was installer error. But hey, I'm not a GM _ or an electrical
engineer...so what do I know?

I don't know....The plug connector that joins at the top of the pump was sent to me with the wires backwards and to top it off, I have to prime the pump twice to get my car to start. So no, racetronix is not infalliable. I have read several responses from racetronix and they ALWAYS deny the possible of a mistake on their part, and come across with a pompus, know it all attitude. They refuse to believe that they are human, and humans make mistakes. I'm positive my wires were reversed in the plug, and came that way straight from racetronix. This is not a part that even a dedicated performance shop would question when plugging it in. I just found out it wasn't working after I had everything bolted back together and got 0 fuel pressure at the rail. I had to pull the pump back out and trouble shoot the problem back to the power connector. Come to find out the polarity was reversed and the pump was spinning backwards. I am pretty good when it comes to checking all my wiring, but you don't expect a plug in connector to be wired backwards. I'm not bashing, just giving my personal perspective. What ever happened to "the customer is always right?" While this is denfinately not always the case, it would be in their best interest to atleast come across with a more open, and accomidating attitude. Instead of just "passing the buck", they could be more helpful and act like the imperfect humans we all are........and own up to their mistakes. Nobody is perfect and I don't expect racetronix to be, but it takes someone with integrity to admit fault and not make excuses.

http://www.racetronix.com/product/RX...99-FPWHG-2.jpg

Look at the picture. see where it says factory power plugs in here!?! that was the wrong plug for my car. Yes I should have taken pictures but I did not have a camera available at the time. (who thinks they'll need to prove someone wrong when their doing a pnp?) Jacks response was to first deny that his copmpnay could have done anything wrong in the first place and never once said hey we could have made a mistake. SO I got pissed yes and for good reason. It was immediatley assumed by a few experts on this board it was user error. When in fact it wasnt. The installer is a gm tech and specialist, and an electrical engineer as well as being the best tuner in the pacnw. The whole kit was installed without a problem except that we couldnt plug the FACTORY POWER PLUGS IN HERE because it was the wrong plug for my car. His first response was "well we're not reponsible if the car has been altered" and hasn't done **** for me since. I've spent over $8k on sponsors on this board and I know what customer service I should expect. Tell one of the other sponsors( I used)they made a mistake and they did everything possible to fix was what wrong and not try and weasle out of it by blaming others. see "altered car" here. Pump works great and pressure is fairly constant but the handling of my wrong cable end was pathetic customer service and YES I'm bitter about it towards Racetronix. Unless Jack wants to appologize for his companys mistake there is nothing more needs to be said here. I know I'll never see any remuneration for the correction.

This thread is going nowhere. You have expressed no desire to actually work with Racetronix, and after modifying their kit you actually apparently breached their warranty, yet you want to come on here and then bitch them out?

You should have called them up and gotten it straightened out before cutting their kit up. Thats the best response I've seen from a vendor in a long time. Either work with Racetronix or stop bashing them.

Actualy we tried to call them and work with them but they wanted the cable back. Which at the point in time we found out it was wrong was completely unfeasible. Its nice to say well you should have done this but when your paying someone $85/hr to install you dont have time to waste on a PNP cable that was wrong. SO after speaking with them on the phone looking at the cable online and seeing what you have in your hand is totally not the same your options are limited. Honestly what are the options at that point?!? Re-instal the old fuel pump and send the cable back? Stupid money move there dont ya think? Pay for the installtion 3 times? and you know racetronix isnt going to pay for it to come out and go back in. No what I was left with was the decision to have the mech make it work properly with the correct factory to power plugins. Done deal. I hoped that someone would take care of the extra cash I had to put out for a wrong cable but what I got was complete denial that a mistake on their part could have been made. Now you say this thread is going nowhere. Its not suppoed to go anywhere its information about a vendors product that was wrong and the mishandling of the whole thing. By them and by me. Oh you say they've done nothing wrong? They packed they wrong cable or mislabled it you decide. I was wrong for not handling it like a CSI episode.
