Aftermarket wheels for GXP?
Hey guys,
I just picked up an '06 Grand Prix GXP. I love the car with the exception of the polished alcoa wheels. I know all about the staggered wheel size with the 18x8 up front and the 18x7 in the rear.
My question is does anybody have aftermarket wheels on their GXP? What sizes did you use? Anybody know what the offset is on the factory wheels?
Post up some pics!
Thanks!

There are not very many... Most people think of it as a bad move because they are specially designed for the car.
Clubgp.com has a few guys, I cannot think of anyone here who does off the top of my head but there is bound to be one or two!

See, I hate chrome/polished wheels. Thats why I want to ditch the stockers. I was considering having them sent out and repair whatever curb rash there is and recoated in like a silver or a gunmetal, but I just don't like the style of them. Plus, this is now my DD so I can't sacrifice the downtime of having the wheels sent out.
Its ideal for me to decide now because the I just bought this car and the front tires are bald and the RR has a plug in the outside edge of the tread, so I need tires.
I do have a set of '98 Mustang Cobra wheels sitting in my garage that just need tires. Was considering bolting them up and seeing how they fit. Those are 17x8's.

Not to sure I'd run them for long, they are 114.3 X 5, ours are 115 X 5. I know its not much of a differance but it might end up wearing the threads, or ovaling the holes in the wheels? Just a thought.

There are a ton guys out there running mustang wheels on grand prix's. In fact they have been doing it several years. There was one guy I remember that said he had been running mustang wheels for over 3 years with no issues at all.

That's all fine and good, but the grand prix's didn't come with 18 inch wheels or a front wheel drive V8 config until the GXP.
So if you want to, go for it, if you f-up the wheels or your car, we warned you.

Okay. I don't feeling like debating with you to be honest. You are right, they are the wrong bolt pattern. Realistically, you are talking a difference of 0.7mm in diameter. If you are uncomfortable with it, fine. I don't have a problem with it.
What does the FWD V8 config have to do with it?

This is gonna sound kinda retarded, but I changed my mind. I bought my car thursday night from my work. I have only seen it at night, or in the shop under the lights. I walked outside today and saw it in the sunlight, and the rims all of sudden grew on me I'm just gonna get new tires and call it a day. Not worth the headaches of aftermarket rims.
GM spent a lot of hard work trying to make a dated FWD platform handle like a BMW, so I think I'll leave it alone.

I have been running the 5x114.3mm bolt pattern on my 99 grand prix with no problems. The car is my daily driver. You can run the 5x114.3 mm bolt pattern on the street but I would run the 5x115 pattern for the track to be safe. There was a black GXP on here that had the dale earnhardt killers in 20x8.5 all around and they looked sweet.

black looks great as long as you keep the tires shined like every day. When the tires lose their shin, it looks stupid.
Something along the lines of a dark silver or gunmetal gray would look real good.
