Default Exclaim UHP Tires

Anyone run these? I'm reading some pretty damn good reviews everywhere about them and they're super cheap at $129.00 each.

totally unscientific, but I would bet that most owners on here settled for front-wheel drive in their sporty car because of a problem with snow. That means cold weather a substantial amount of time per year. That means no Summer only rubber for most folks. It would not surprise me if you did not find anyone who has run them yet.

Yeah, no point in summer only tires around here. On average, we're only frost free between mid May and mid September. Not unusual to have snow on the ground for six months.

Hmmm, might be time to move to NM or AZ like other members of the family.

Well I live in Florida so, Summer tires for me. StealthV8, are you basing this on experience\word of mouth or are you just knocking them for the price?

I just usually think you get what you pay for, i find that is even more ture when it comes to performance products. But it all depends on how you drive too. I have Nexen N3000 z rated tires and they were pretty cheap too but i didn't buy them, they are somewhat loud but depends if you have 7" or 8" wide tires up front too

I had them on the front of my Camaro, and they were excellent! The car felt more confident around corners with these tires, as apposed to the Eagle HPs that were on it. When it comes time for tires on the imp, I will def get a set of the Generals. Great tire!

Personally I would stay away from general and continental tires. Lots of comebacks, poor performance, premature wear and belt seperation problems. Stay away from the cheapies. Mohawk, Primewell, Capitols, Cordovan, Douglas, Wal-mart,Sams club, ect... I can go on for days. I can tell you what brand or brand style tires to avoid or the ones that are problematic. Been working in this field for tooooo long.

Well i disagree. I just got these tires on last week and there the best tires ive every had on the impala. Of coarse in east texas we dont have to worry about snow or ice much. So a summer tire isnt a bad choice around here. But, my wife and I just came back from a lil trip to Ft.worth and back and we both agree that the car rides, handles and take off traction is way better than our previous tires. We had some F1's before and they were nice tires but they only lasted a year, 16,000 miles. If you look up tirerack.com these exclaims are rated 97% of the leading tire in its class and its over $50 cheaper a tire. Im just saying dont knock it until you try it, go with the exclaims youll be happy

wayfastwhitie86 let us know how they wear after you put a couple thousand miles on them. I know most general tires don't hold up for the long haul. But hopefully you will have good luck with them. Let us know if you would.

StealhV8, Nexens are decent tires. They are decently priced and last a while. Haven't had any issues with them wearing out prematurely or seperated belts with them. Don't see a lot of them in my area. But they are decent. They handle pretty well too.

Well the only thing is, what you see on that page is a culmination of all the user reviews. Tirerack doesn't have theirspecific 1-10 rating in their 4 categories like they do on some tires.

Well the only reason im using them now is cause my bud with a 05 GTO tried them out. He got 30,000miles without rotating. Its worth a shot man. Good luck and I'll let everyone know how the tires last.

Oh yeah and I really like the size change 245-45-18

Good luck,
Chris

I have these on my Ion Redline. A good summer tire, but if you have any snow whatsoever....forget about it

I know I'm kind of outta my jurisdiction here (Whatever... I have the Oldsmobile ) I bought a set of those tires for my Camaro and they have been excellent. I have put about 20k on them and I have a little over half tread left (about 6/32). I have seen some of the cheapy Generals with belt separation problems, but I was willing to give one of their "higher end" tires a shot and I've been more than pleased. It does decent in the snow too (for a Camaro anyway). For the price I recommend them over anything summitummi's or whatever's being made in the far east. The Generals are made in Germany FWIW.

Thanks for the comments guys. I might give these tires a shot. At 500 something for the set, it seems like a good gamble if they work out ok. I drive like an animal, so I'll be sure to review them as far as wear goes.
