Would it be worth it? Taking a bunch of things out of your car just to shave a tenth or so from your e.t.?

Or are you talking about replacing parts with lighter parts i.e. Lightweight batteries, Carbon Fiber hoods, ect ect.

I'd say don't worry about it. It is what it is, fwd family oriented mid size sedan. I don't see how removing the rear seats, passenger seat, carpet, sound deadening, a/c, could save THAT much weight to make it worth removing the stuff (& thats going to the extreme). Although I do believe Pauls325 took out his rear seats, I don't know if he's removed other items. Things that I can think of that save weight on f-bodies are tubular suspension pieces, I don't know that they have those for our cars. Isn't our engine cradle pretty light, being aluminum?

Go on a diet or add more power. A/C and radio delete were my first mods!

I'm close to 300 myself :-/

I don't see a need for weight reduction, these are really racecars. But taking the seats out is probably the easiest option. There really isn't much weight that can be dropped. Montes have the advantage there.

Remove everything from the trunk (pump, wood cover, cloth) and your back seats (not easy but they come out). This gained me a tenth on a 70 degree day. Still couldn't break 100 (we needed a 6 spd with 3.29s or 3.42s not DOD) and I was on street tires.

taking weight off the rear tires is most important to provide better traction. When we first accelerate the rear of the car goes down taking weight from your front tires (being fwd we need that). The less weight out back the less your rear will go down, and the more traction you will get up front. If you already know how to launch these cars you will feel a huge improvement with the trunk gutted and rear seat out.

no im still pretty much full weight... actually i was considering buying a used kirkey seat though and losing all the other seats before i go to the track this summer with my buddy bob (trans am making 350 at the wheels) so im going to do everything i can to not get totally smoked but i figure each of the front seats has to be 35 lb and the rear is rpobably similar i was also thinking baout a lightweight battery but have not decided whether having the weight in the front is better than less i myself should probably gain some weight since i only weigh 150
