With slicks, I think you should order a new transmission and maybe a couple of half shafts.

I run 255/50/16 BFG Drag Radials, and I'm scared for my tranny with those. With medium hard launches I got a best of 2.06 60 foot, with the average being high 2.0 60 foots. I'm not comfortable launching any harder than that!

I see you managed to get a 14.0. I wish I trapped 100mph, on my 14.01 I only trapped 97 with a 2.12 60 foot.

You'll be fine on slicks. Just heat them up good with a burn out in 2nd gear and turn off traction control. Slicks knocked off around 2 to 3/10ths from my quarter mile time when my car was n/a.

Yeah but you have upgraded your tranny. I wouldnt launch my GXP hard on the stock tranny with drag radials.

I did many passes on slicks without an upgraded tranny before I put the turbo on the car.

I ran Hoosier DRs a few times and my tranny has stayed in one piece. So far...

Why is that ? Am I missing something here? Why is everyone talking about new transmission, half shaft, etc?

05's would blow the tranny with hard launches in stock trim. Our cars are so close to the factory thresh hold for the tranny stock. The more traction you get the more torque is able to be shock loaded to the drivetrain parts.

Don't know where you get your info but i have almost 100 000 kms and the car is driven very hard with no problems so far. I bought the extra warrenty hoping it would blow before it was up but it looks like this one is holding up. Its going to be built up soon tho.

The transmission in both cars are the same, i have heard the 05's had a heavier tune than the other years but have yet to see it, so i don't know.

We don't have the best transmissions, watch the temp and shut it down when she gets to hot.

Well when I plan to go to the track I'm going to let it cool for an hour each time I run down the track starting as soon as I get there.

Well I guess I'll cross my fingers each time I run it down the track hoping nothing messes up.

I'm pretty sure you can find many members with transmission failures, even ones that don't beat on their car.

I'm a little cautious, even though I have plenty of warranty.

Mine slips. Occasionally when pulling away from a light it revs a little higher than normal and then thunks into gear and starts to move. I haven't raced my car in nearly a year. It goes in the shop on Monday for repairs. Wish me luck!
