DoD

Just to add a little. I paid more attention while driving today, it went into AFM when it was in 'D' and what seemed to be 3rd gear.
I left it in '3' for about 15 minutes, never went into AFM under any circumstance. Possibly different parameters for DOD/AFM? Or between the GXP and SS. I don't have any datalogging capabilities, so I can't really back up my trial lol

So I`m guessing that we all have something to learn here! There is a difference between the Pontiac and the Chevy DoD/AFM programming. The Chevy can be disabled simply by selecting 1,2or 3 on the shifter and DoD/Afm is disabled. The Pontiac version does not have the selection capabilities on the shifter, only D and tapshift and this prevents disabeling the DoD/AFM without custom tuning to do so.

Here's a screen shot of the tables
Attachment 216840
As you can see, it doesn't matter what position the shifter is in. If you're in third of fourth, and the enable/disable parameters such as rpm, vacuum, throttle position... are met, DOD will enable.
If you happen to be scanning the right PIDS, you can see the engine cycle in and out of DOD. It doesn't matter if you have the shifter in drive or if you're in tapshift mode.
Give it up.

Or is it completely reliant on certain conditions?

Well the Diablo U7191 would be you best bet, cost, useability, mail order tunes, read and reset codes, logging. Its not perfect but it does make a difference. You can get a brand new Predator for like 299 or a flashy Trinity for 599.

wow... that's crappy... DOD in the monte/impala's doesn't work unless you're in D... won't kick in if you're in 1, 2, or 3...
and yes, a diablo predator or trinity can disable the DOD, but you can't use someone elses to "mess around with it" cuz you can only tune 1 vehicle at a time with it, cuz once you install or modify a tune to the car, the predator/trinity gets locked to that vehicle... so, you're SOL there...
you'd have to buy your own, and like ill_born said, you can get 'em brand new for $299 (predator)...

Funny thing to add...when I was doing the N2O before we went to turbo my tune was on EFI....The first dam thing the scanner pops up in option field when you plug the car in is a big check box with larger than normal letters saying "Active Fuel Management OFF, ON" and you simply select a check box... LOL so EFI sticks it right out there up front like a recomendation...LOL
